10276638 No.10276638 [Reply] [Original]

I basically wanted to know how many smaller groups the bigger fanbases in /vt/ know about and i asked the next question to all of them:
"Which ones of these corps do you know about? (you can name some members or watched at least a clip or two)"
The polls were posted during peak times (both times in Niji thread during 4 vtuber streams total, both times in /hlgg/ during 5 vtuber streams, both times in Vshojo thread, once only with Ironmouse streaming and the other one with 4 vtubers streaming). I added the IP amounts for the threads after 10 minutes of posting the poll, which was posted on new made threads.
>"That's cool and all but what do you want to tell us with this?"
I don't know, anon, i'm not that good analyzing statistics but go ahead and use the thread to discuss about it

That doesn't necessarily mean nijifans watch vtubers outside their bubble. The poll is about which companies you recognize/know about and it feels like viewers outside the holobubble do their reps more about where they come from. If you pit a picture of nose in the /hlgg/ thread I'm sure a large number of people would recognize her as "towa's friend/wife" but almost none of them would tell you she's from VSPO. I've been following three of them pretty closely for quite some time. I'll do my best to give you a detailed summary on them.

Tsunderia is more like a family than a company. They have a diverse selection of personalities, but the most important thing they look for is that they all work well together. They have a professional level artist (Hanabi), a professional level singer (Miori), the queen of zatsudans/GFE (Yuuna), a gunpla builder (Char), a competent if eccentric manager (Urara), etc. Even though they have their specialties, they're all well-rounded streamers that provide a mix of gaming, chatting, and recorded content. It is highly likely that there is someone in Tsunderia you will fall in love with, and a few that you'll also just be a fan of as well.

Prism is the closest to the Hololive-type idol experience that the West has, probably because the company and 1st generation are located in Japan. There is a palpable degree of separation between the chuubas and fans, which can be a turn-off. They all seem to specialize in singing and zatsudans, but suck at gaming, with the only real exceptions being Luto and Nia. Management seems mostly incompetent, but there are signs of improvement.

Phase Connect seems more like an experiment than a real company. To sum them up in a word, it would have to be immature. They have separate JP and EN branches, and the JP branch is floundering badly despite having actually talented Japanese streamers. Their momentum is completely from shilling themselves here frequently. Not only has their most well-known streamer been /here/ for quite some time, she also regularly pokes at the kiwis. Management has no control whatsoever. At this point, it's a waiting game on when they eventually implode and what yab is the one that does them in, but despite all this, there are some very rough gems such as Uruka's music and Tenma's unique banter

Primarily Hololive/Holostars JP watcher here that also watches a ton of non Hololive vtubers such as whoever Roberu collabs with, whoever Astel collabs with, watch the big collabs Animare's Haneru puts on, and keeps up with Apex Vtuber Saikyou tournaments. I've watched Noah's streams a few times, seen her in a bunch of collabs, knew about that she's part of something called the Virtual Esports Project and that it's called ぶいすぽっ, completely did not remember it's English abbreviation is VSPO and would never have marked that if I took the poll. I've also watched both Beni and Hinano, and just now realized they were actually part of VSPO as well when I looked at the wiki. I just remember their avatars and voices and do not pay attention to their jikoshoukais so don't remember their agency. So yeah I bet there's a ton of people who would recognize Noah that are completely unable to recognize VSPO. I also only learned last week when trying to torrent some stuff that the Masquerade Vtubers were called Masquerade despite knowing of them since 2020, I just remembered them as the lewd maids. I only remember NoriPro because it's literally Tamaki's irl name with pro added to it, and honestly if I watched any less amount of 774 I'd only be able to recognize them individually by like Animare and Honey Strap. I think there's a fair amount of people that would recognize Vtubers by names and faces and completely flub agency names.

Based. I have the same opinion for both Prism and Tsunderia, and your insight on Phase Connect is very welcome.
Opinions on Cyberlive? They seem to be doing the same experiment as Phase Connect and appeal to /vt/ itself, and have been in making friends with many /here/ chuubas such as Beatani, the more /vt/-kosher chuubas of /wvt/, Pippa and ex-amber glow Terumi.

>> No.10295776

>>10295422
I'm relatively new to Cyberlive as a company, but here's what I've seen so far.

Lumi obviously has a lot going for her, which isn't surprising given how involved she was in /asp/, and her timely capitalization of Mumei's inability to scratch the grand strategy itch was a brilliant move. She's clearly outshining her genmates, but it's still unclear whether she can transfer her current popularity onto them, or even if she can keep up with her own rapid growth. The only other specialized chuuba in CL is Seina trying to get in on the Spanish market, but it's questionable how marketable that strategy is. I'm be very curious to see her stats on average donation amount and total donations to average viewership ratio.
Management is the real question mark. I have no idea how involved they are with content or company direction, but their launch was one of the biggest shitshows in all VTubing. Everything from getting Hylo to respond to the allegations of underage management and sketchy asset acquisitions, to paying for dates with the streamers (even if assuming that was only for the debut streams, that idea was still dumb as shit), it just made the company seem like a joke. If I was Lumi, I'd have already renegotiated my contract with them for single-handedly bailing them out of obscurity and giving them any semblance of credibility after how bad they fucked everything up. But Lumi gave them a second life, so it's up to them not to fuck it all up again. I don't trust them not to, but it'll be fun to watch regardless

>> No.10296168

>>10295776
Yeah Lumi's shrewd. I hope she keeps some distance from 4chan, given how easy it is for /here/viewers to turn on their chuubas fast. Or not. Either way, I'm keenly observing the future of these companies and how far they'll make it.

I can tell she means well and is sincere in what she said during the debut fiasco, but the best thing she could have done for her company was to stay out of it and let management handle the PR. And while I do believe that her tweet about being related to Ria was supposed to be in good fun and possibly to build a bridge with Tsunderia, it's really unfortunate that she didn't realize how uncomfortable that would make things for everyone. Another instance of management not taking the lead and advising against a bad idea, but that seems to be par for the course. She's matured since then and I hope for the best for her

I like Tsunderia because it feels closer to a tight-knit group of indies than it does a corporation. They have many of the benefits that a company brings like higher-than-average production values and management to keep things in order, but the talents are given a lot of freedom to make the kind of content they want, collaborate with who they want, and be who they want to be. The initial reaction was incredulity (either that they would let her leave with her model and brand, or that she was ever a part of a company in the first place) followed by suspicion and general distrust after what Kana said about them, but since it turns out she's a complete lunatic that can't be trusted, they're now the most trustworthy and stable startup out there. And that comes even after losing their rising star to NijiEN.
That's pretty close to where Cyberlive is now. They're overcoming the distrust of their debut yabs and, through their streamers providing solid content and a lack of subsequent yabs, are starting to be viewed in a more positive light. It probably won't be long before the other startups drop the collab ban for them

I've watched a little of Haruna and love her voice. The company has a few issues, the biggest being the lack of a cohesive art style. They only have 3 chuubas but they all look radically different from each other. It's perfectly indicative of the fact they don't have a brand identity which is arguably more important than streaming talent. I think Tsun/Verse needs specialized marketing. Pretty good assessment though I'd also point out that Prism has the largest paypigs by far. Their numbers are even comparable to NijiEN despite being such a small company. As far as startup companies they're growing the fastest and making the most money, yet even then Yu has said they're currently in the red and mostly propped up by his own cash.

Phase Connect seems like it was poorly planned but they're actually doing alright on the EN side. Pippa is entirely reliant on /here/ shilling but Lia and Uruka are growing at a good pace and Tenma and Iori have really loyal fans. Especially Iori has some really dedicated paypigs and interacts with both her JP and EN fans quite a bit.

Tsunderia are probably the most likely to fall apart. They have some talented girls but they don't stream as frequently as other companies and their growth is totally stagnant. While Phase Connect might have some external yab that causes Pippa or Lia to get fired I don't think they're hurting for money or exposure nearly as much as Tsunderia.

I'd like to shill Kawaii Pro as well, Nene Amano and Isla Coleman are both extremely talented streamers that wouldn't surprise me if they got poached by a larger company soon. Two of their chuubas are also staff, one of their chuubas had their mother and aunt die this year, another one has pretty severe mental and autoimmune issues, and every single one of them either has another job, is taking college courses, or both. And even then, Yuuna and Purin still stream so often that they physically exhaust themselves.
This is why Slugma is so highly revered by both the chuubas and this board. Tsunderia, with less money invested and less oil barons in their fanbase, are more of a financial success than Prism. She's the reason why Tsunderia is the most stable startup, because none of that other shit matters. At the end of the day, it's all about the bottom line. And on top of all that, she still looks out for the well-being of the other streamers.
I do agree about Kawaii though. With one exception, they have the same problem of needing exposure as Tsunderia. Nene's doing a lot of the heavy lifting
>>10306766

For a vtuber agency it costs a lot of money to create a new gen and hire staff to manage them long-term. Being in the red isn't really a big deal as it's an investment for the future. Prism is starting a 4th gen soon even though they're not profitable, because the goal is to keep rolling the gacha of hiring new talents until you find someone like Fubuki or Mito or even Pikamee that can carry your agency on their back. If you get really lucky you'll even find a Kuzuha or Pekora or Gura that will turn you profitable singlehandedly and reshape the entire landscape of the vtuber industry.

>Isla:
Im going to be a little biased here because she is my oshi but all of her streams are really entertaining you don't know what you will get everytime she streams. For example one day she wanted to do an after party for one of her covers that endend in viewers making clickbait titles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_xFhcYFE9Y&t=8203s.. Also she really grinds hard for her covers doing recently a 4 week cover relay witch at least in my opinion all of them where excellent. If i had to say something bad it would be she gets sick easily and she normally have a lot of small hiautus.
>Reina:
She is the smallest of the bunch in terms of subscribers and live viewers but at the same time that makes easier interacting with her and she really gives a lot of atention to her chat, she really seems to enjoy streaming going easily for 3+ every stream and recently she invested 600+ dollars on a new mic just to improve her streaming. As far as content go she is a gfe vtuber who mostly does game streams and zatsudans, she also is interested in doing more karaoke witch is good because she is a competent singer. The bad would be she has a bit of dead air and some guys on her chat are really attention seekers that they get because her chat is really slow.
>Charzu:
If i would describe Charzu as a vtuber she is an imouto type character who is bully bait with how mad she gets at things and her bad opinions on her tierliest stream. She also is really creative and always tries to do something new for her streams like when she debuted as morgan freeman. Like seriously https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwVzkR7lp34 . As bad things i would say that her voice can filter a lot of people and she does a lot of streams where she does things based on how much people pay so that can rub someone the wrong way.
>Nene:
To be honest i don't have much to say about Nene because i don't really watch her but as far as i know she is a really dedicated streamer and a hardcore weeb who also does some gfe

You have heard rrats from this holoschizos. Kzh wasn't even breaking 4 digit viewers back when he joined Nijisanji (the first two months in picrel were before he joined Nijisanji), which I'll admit is a lot for a startup company and streamers in general, but it's nowhere near what he pulls now. He had to grind for years to get to that position, which is why he's also just a bad example for a talent that will make you an overnight success.

Nijisanji and the current livestreaming live2d vtubing exists in the way it does mainly because they lucked out with finding Mito who's a once in a generation talent as a small startup. She also had no history of streaming before she joined Nijisanji. Now you can of course argue that finding your own Mito is easier said than done, and putting that expectation on any startup's talent scouting is foolhardy.

Especially happens with small companies as their name doesn't really provide any advantage whatsoever and thus isn't put forward. Kana was in Tsunderia contract for quite a while before people were even aware of Tsunderia existence. Some indie vtubers using this board like Yoro or Nyaru aren't technically indie because under some kind of agency, but even if it was a real company the contrat wasn't even written and honestly no one knows about the company at all, their top talents are much more a famous than them. They're extremely relevant in the greater VTubing community outside of this board, especially with the larger indies and other startups they're networked with. The first company to partner with VTube Studio, multiple collaborative projects with Niji KR, involved in a music project that involves a member of Holo ID, a former member in Obsydia and a contact in HoloCouncil...you can't tell me that they're irrelevant with all this going for them.
In terms of subs, they definitely lag, but subs are a meaningless metric. They don't have many whales, and that's a bit more meaningful. But in terms of average concurrent viewers across their whole company, as well as ratio of viewers to subs, they're still at or near the top (difficult to accurately gauge with YouTube's fucked up viewer tracking). My theory is that it's indicative that Tsunderia's content quality is at or near the top since they retain a higher percentage of viewers than the other startups, and are only struggling in other areas because they don't know how to attract new fans, which is where marketing comes in

>put Amashiro on blast publicly for ignoring her requests for a new outfit, chalked it up to her only liking Gura
>sperged out at her YouTube chat at the end of a Limbo stream, calling them a bunch of assholes and then privating the VOD (picrel, posted immediately following the end of the stream)
>sperged out at her YouTube chat again on her final stream on the platform because she misused the word "remorse" and was called out for it. She immediately ended the stream after being live for only 10 minutes and never streamed on YouTube again
>Refused to announce to her YouTube audience, including her paid members, that she would no longer stream on that platform for a full month

On top of these specific incidents, she constantly says one thing then does the opposite. Notable examples of this are saying she doesn't care about growing her audience and then complaining that her discoverability is worse on YouTube as justification for leaving the platform. Another example is claiming that she loves the freedom of being an indie and would never join another agency, but she's mused in her Discord that she could use management, such as the kind in VShojo

Just from skimming her general, I think they get off on how menhera she is. Maybe they like being abused, or they think they can save her from herself? Shit's fucked up over there

That feel when Guild CQ is so irrelevant and unknown that it's not even on the poll.

They're probably just not on their for the same reason VOMS isn't. That said, I'm not sure if some companies actually are 個人勢 or just using it as an excuse to not have to act like a company.

If you're talking about NoIR, it's hard but she does do it every stream. Too bad she's been on hiatus for now.

Well, I admit I don't know most of these. Know NoriPro, PRism, heard of VSPO. It's less of a "I don't do my reps" and more of a "I'm already settled". I don't need to watch
any more
>Started with hololive (only Ayame)
>went into a "company hate" phase and looked for indies
>dropped all except one because westerners without company that keeps them on a leash = shitty politics on stream and otherwise APEXAPEXAPEX
>Had heard of Niji before
>NijiEN debuts
>Shit's good, Pomu new oshi (Ayame still kamioshi)
>Get into Mao as well on the JP side
>Indie, Pomu, Selen, Mao and it's already too many streams to handle
I don't need to know more.
