The only problem I have with this wording is neither are really trying to rack up VOD views, it just happens.

Kuzuha doesn't look at a timer and force himself to stream 9 hours everyday, he just streams till he's dead tired and he usually gets a high CCV and viewer turnover from Apex.
For Gura, she's literally not doing anything special on her end. She's just streaming and her VODs rack up views because she has a huge subcount and the algorithm loves her.

It's not like, let's say, Fuwa and Ame can "copy" what Kuzuha and Gura do and replicate the same effect of getting monstrous VOD views.

- Take initiate and organize lots of collabs, both 1-on-1 and group collabs
- Make and promote memes of yourself through short clip uploads or tweets

These are strategies any vtuber can copy, but obviously mileage will vary depending on how entertaining the vtuber is.
Pekoras, Mikos, and Marines don't grow on trees afterall.

At very least one thing: she makes her audience front and center in EVERY stream of hers.
She's in constant communication with her chat, even during collabs, and takes their advice both for real and for comedic effect. She never EVER complains about "backseating", she just incorporate it in her streaming style and that makes her audience to feel part of the show instead of just passive watchers.

One of her earliest and pivotal clips is exactly that. Chat tells her to throw her netherite sword in lava and she does. That's what keeps her audience in their seats, any of them can become the star of the show for a few moments and that's very important for retention and engagement.

There's a reason why some like Elira and Pomu were very successful indies prior to NijiEN.

Unfortunately, the level of exposure NijiEN gets is just tiny due to how dominant HoloEN is on youtube. HoloEN also does a good job at keeping its fanbase focused on them so a lot of the million subs they have will never check out a NijiEN stream because HoloEN is enough to occupy their free time.

Those strategies are moreso for building a loyal audience and long stream + high CCV = good VODs.
As for how to actually grow VOD views like Gura, no one knows the answer apart from getting a massive global fanbase where half can't catch your streams live so your CCV is lower than it should be and Susan is probably fucking up your CCV too and blocking out "spam viewers" by the thousands.
