Yeah I don't know what people are expecting out of first streams. It is obvious she was nervous as fuck and had 18k people watching her debut at one point. That's a lot of pressure for someone who already had pushed back the debut for a month and whose hype was through the damn roof. All things considered, there was almost nothing Hime could do to match expectations. What was obvious to me is that once she got about an hour in she had calmed down a lot and was able to let her personality flow a bit more naturally. It doesn't help that she had technical issues right away either.

As for the character, well we all know Sydnsnap made this character originally as a joke to app to Hololive EN. She flat out states in the video she was going for a cynical approach to her character design and then with the audition tape lays out a series of tropes and banal concepts that would appeal to the average otaku to simp money. She defines it as "free cootchie". So my question going forward is "what is Hime?". Is she just a joke character; a measurement of the absurdity of otaku weeb fetishes and vtuber simping who will play with these meta concepts (including her own identity.... I giggled when she stated she "knows a little Thai") or will she eventually do what all the other Vshojo girls have done and, more or less, shirk the original character concept and just be herself, a content creator and entertainer in her own right. I don't know, but I'm willing to give her a chance.

You're not wrong and I have no idea what she'll do as I am just speculating. I would hope she isn't just Sydsnap with a Vtuber avatar because as others have pointed out that kind of cheapens the allure of being one. To me a Vtuber isn't just a character but a way for people to create content in a way that is unique to them where they normally couldn't due to some reason (they're paranoid about being doxxed or have issues like Mousey). I know some people prefer to think of them as the characters and a voice actress / actor behind the character creating that feeling of being able to interact with your 2d waifu but... at the end of the day it is about entertainment. Can Sydsnap create content unique to her Vtuber persona that is separate from her original content (which I might add she just uploaded a new video to her original channel not three days before her Hime debut)? That's what I am watching for.

She also has really good comedic timing.
