Throw away all pride. Throw away all pride and just pander. Pander to the lowest common denominator. Eat chocolate bunnies if you have to. That is my advice. Drink breast milk, yeah, just drink breast milk. Just throw away your pride and drink the breast milk.

Raids are always appreciated by the raidee, but if you have no relationship at all with the person you’re raiding and the disparity is huge don’t expect to get much out of it. I mean I want to see everyone succeed in some way I guess. Define succeed.

What I want is vtubers who are humble about their origins and that I can relate to. Those I listed seem to have some serious issues and I know there are a lot of hurt feelings in their wake because they’ve basically used others as stepping stones to get where they are.

That plus they are shameless and wormed their way into bigger chuubas spheres for the viewers.

Wargaming minis, games, computer hardware, etc. all differ from art in that they are tangible products that have real value to other people and can be used for something
If you spend 4 figures on a fucking vtuber model you are an unironic, unforgivable fool. You will fail and be laughed at, and any success will be tainted by your moneybirding. It doesn't matter if you saved for YEARS for what it cost to have your model made and rigged. You will NEVER get the value back, either in donos or in perceived value from fun, unless you already got that money from your 'hobby', and at that point it's more of a side gig or a career.
Art is an extreme luxury expense. Doubly so inside of the chuuba sphere because everyone seems to tack an extra 0 onto the end of a commission price if it involves vtubers.

Yeah I think it’s about your mindset. This is a hobby for many, but the buy-in can be high.

For me, my model is one of my most important tools. It is the first thing people see, it is what I will be projecting onto and, for all sense and purposes, it’s me. Aside from my voice, this is my entire person.

So in that sense, I don’t mind dropping money from my savings on a decent model because it will in the long run have a huge impact on both my brand and my satisfaction with my stuff.

The term "moneybirding" has been ruined by poorfags. Spending 1k on a model vs spending upwards of 8k to get a famous artist is not the same thing. Spending money on vtubing doesn't somehow invalidate your success, you didn't "pay to win" because if people don't like you they won't fucking stay

>You will NEVER get the value back, either in donos or in perceived value from fun
I've made it back and more in less than a year (male) and only streaming a few hours 3 times a week while never going past 25 viewers outside of raids. "can't measure fun blah blah blah" bullshit aside, I definitely feel like I've had a lot of fun and made lots of great friends from this hobby. Most people will definitely make it back even if they're only moderately entertaining I'd say in about 6 months.

>because everyone seems to tack an extra 0 onto the end of a commission price if it involves vtubers
That's called commercial fees, anyone using art to make money pays them and they're typically included in every vtuber character related purchase as far as design, rig, and Live2D go.

I've got a 'guide the raid' and 'play obnoxious sound' as high-ish points, but I'm not good at art so a "I'll doodle you something" doesn't really work, unless people like super scuffed mspaint art?

I think art streams are good for Zatsudans. I appreciate stream of thoughts streams and art streams are good for that.

I agree about collabs. I’m generally not a fan of doing them, primarily because it generally only really appeals to the more hardcore of fans and can be unappealing to people who stumble onto you.

You can’t really get a good read on a streamer when they’re collabing and they tend to pay less attention to their chats as well.

It’s also why I think it’s retarded to collab on every participants stream. It makes it even more of a hassle to follow as a viewer. Just have the one with the highest average viewer count host.

For rea though if you’re fishing for collab this is the worst possible way to do it.

Avoid the “friends hanging out and playing a game together” vibe as much as you can, it makes your viewers feel like a third wheel. If you’re collabing, it has to be to provide collective entertainment to everyone watching, not to play a game together instead of alone.

I don't think the stream should ever be 'silent', at least for more than a few seconds, unless you're in awe of what just happened. I don't want the streamer to talk over the characters in game if it's a cut-scene, but I would prefer they're talking near constantly
>Seiso
I honestly don't care, so long as the chuuba is consistent. If you're flirty with chat, be prepared for chat to flirt back. If you want to stay seiso all the time, don't commission NSFW artwork.
OTOH, it's fine if you change slightly when you're in another stream, you can relax a bit and be more degen in a collab.

>how much does silence bother you in a stream? How much does chattiness?
I don't like dead air if it's more than just occasionally, whereas chattiness depends. Motormouths like Odette are great but are too much for me, I like a nice middle ground where a streamer can keep a steady convo (either by themselves or with chat) going without going overboard
>what’s your opinion on the seiso-debate?
As in what's better? I don't mind seiso or lewd VTubers existing since there's a VTuber for pretty much everyones taste. I like seiso but swearing a lot, lewd is weird outside of few jokes
>do you tune in for zatsudans? Do you enjoy them?
Zatsudans are my favorite. For some like Nina I am excited when she has her zatsu before starting games, it's very comfy

if it's tasteful I don't mind, as in, being quiet during cutscenes or intense moments (I'm going silent for gamer mode, so long as it's not that long), but then again, if you're going to be chatty it has to be interesting chattiness. It may be filling dead air, but if all you're saying is "oooh, uwaa, aha" and stuff, I ignore it, but that's just me, some people might like that

There's a few things that make it good:

She knows how to keep the ball rolling in a way that's not forced and together with the BGM it's nice to fall asleep to

If I was going to armchair manager I would say try to imagine the sort of audience you want and also realize that your chart is going to somewhat mirror your stream personality. You can have a mature chill chat while labeling yourself 20+ and you can have an unbelievably rowdy chat being all ages.

I mean if there's a moment of dead air then whatever, it happens, but if you consistently clam up for minutes at a time because you're too focused on the game or something like that then you need to work on that. That said if you're invested in the story then it's fine to let a cutscene do the talking and discuss it with viewers afterwards. Basically, I don't want someone who is so hyperactive that there isn't a moment to catch my breath as a viewer but I don't want someone that makes me wonder why I'm not just watching a longplay video instead either.
Don't play it up, in either direction. I just want someone to be natural, and if being natural means you never swear or you talk about fucking all the time then so be it. It's really obvious when someone is pretending to be raunchier than they really are and it's kind of uncomfortable frankly, and on the opposite end I don't wanna see someone treat this like they're fuckin Bob Saget on Full House either.
I wouldn't say I seek them out but yeah I'll watch one.
I literally just woke up man, but she had two streams yesterday that took up a good chunk of my free time so I guess I did yesterday if nothing else.

But then I'm also the kind of autist that always bookmarks a stream I'm enjoying so I can follow them afterwards instead of doing it while they're live since I also don't want to disrupt it by making them feel like they gotta shout me out so take that for what it's worth

Squiddy's speed-drawings are really good, probably the highest interactive redeem with chat that's not time or stream prohibitive. People love scuffed art.
>>11403545
First thing would be to learn to externalise your thought process. If you're concerned about dead air, the most basic thing you can do is just say what's on your mind. Then once you're comfortable with speaking a bit more, you can start adding in conversation hooks, anecdotes, stories, etc. This is the sort of thing where you can prep topics to discuss and be able to carry a zatsudan instead of just read out your cliff notes verbatim and not know how to continue the flow. I sometimes struggle with the latter without doing a lot of umming and uhhing.
>>11405292
>how much does silence bother you in a stream? How much does chattiness?
I don't like dead air too much, I kind of like crisp commentary with the occasional anecdote or story, Clauvio has a good balance. Not a huge fan of people who are too much of a chatterbox which is sadly how I feel like I am when I stream. I just have it drilled into my head that dead air bad so I naturally keep talking...
>what’s your opinion on the seiso-debate?
Depends on the chuuba honestly, whatever works for them naturally. That's kind of why I don't like redeems that force it one way or another because you know it will be used counter to how the streamer is feeling.
>do you tune in for zatsudans? Do you enjoy them?
Depends on who, but sometimes I would. Generally though, I prefer stealth zatsus because there's at least another layer of activity instead of just a chat, or like a lecture/informational type stream if it's pure chatting.
>have you supported your oshi today?

I've never seen Clauvio but I'll check them out. I can kind of agree with the redeems thing too, some people use it at the most inappropriate / unfunny moments. And I like zatsus too because they tend to show the mettle of the VTuber, can they entertain just by being themselves?

how does sitting in a server not doing anything facilitate collaborations?

It's a small and cheap sign of support for each other. If two chuubas know each other and they're not on each others' Discords, you can tell there's some juicy drama they're hiding from the public.

Or they're Kongou and literally doesn't.

if the servers boosted the better audio quality in the voice chats is a good reason. but you never know if those vtubers chat in other servers or in private calls so why worry about it?

the one things that is bad is when random vtubers join a server to self promote and do nothing to interact with anyone on the server.

discord has twitch integration and in order to use a chuubas emotes on discord you need to be in their server tied to twitch

Good morning, Auraxians! Another day, another bonus check. Today's goals: we click on people's heads in #PlanetSide2, then swap to #Prey #Mooncrash at 1PM. Live on #Twitch, as always. Starting now! Be there!

that's kind of it though, when I enter a server that is basically dead but has a bunch of chuubas in it, it makes me think that they're all just giving each other that small support or interacting privately

makes the discord feel like some soulless marketing gimmick rather than a place made for communication

Yup. Assuming said chuuba has their Discord and Twitch linked, you'll be able to use their Twitch emotes on Discord without Nitro.

you need to link your discord to twitch, theres also a way to easily join all the linked servers
go into user settings, then click connections and you'll be able to hit join on all the servers you got subs on, gifts or otherwise

That's on that chuuba though. If they have a Discord where nothing happens, it means they haven't been building their community. I'm on a few and there seems to be quite a lot of stuff happening.

I'm following a Swedish VTuber called CasualRayla and she's got a pretty active Discord. She's had sex ed sessions and things got pretty spicey, but she's great at managing the tone and she genuinely cares for her community.

That's key. Even smaller chuubas can have very active communities if they care about them and interact with them.
