1. No. Not here necessarily, but active SOMEwhere. Being active here is convenient since you can get yourself a couple viewers to break out of single digit viewer hell. The important part is to get at least a couple viewers from somewhere since viewers won't pop out of thin air on their own. There's also some networking you can do with the chuubas that are here.
2. That's something some chuubas here are still trying to figure out. Breaking out of your comfort zone is important, otherwise you'll just keep circulating the same pool of viewers which are in limited supply. Use whatever platforms are available to you, even the ones you dislike. Reddit, discord, twitter, maybe even tiktok. Make clips and skits and upload them to youtube and pray someone finds them. Be active in other vtubers' chats, raid vtubers that aren't here.

I guess that depends on what an extended leave means. If they're still around on twitter/discord/etc. that's one thing but if they're just straight up gone it'd probably sting a good bit.
not really, no. I've always considered it just an alternative form of facecam streams and it's not like those are going anywhere or have an expiration date.
I've never been good with advice but I think the most important thing is to never force it. People can tell when an entertainer is straining a smile, it's better to just take a day or a week off if it's needed. Everyone (everyone worth listening to anyway) understands that despite whatever avatar a person is running with, you're still just a person at the end of the day.
I've lost about 50 pounds in the last year. I'm not sure if that's good or bad for that long of a time frame, but considering I'm terrible about actually exercising and this is pretty much solely due to some diet changes I'm pretty happy about it.

1. Coming up on 1 year now for vtubers. As far as non-vtuber streamers, I think he's been on for like 8 years or something like that.
2. Nothing lasts forever. Sometimes it makes me sad, and I certainly don't look forward to it, but I wouldn't say I worry about it.
3. If it's just a leave from streaming and she at least still hung around social media and discord and stuff, I'd be fine. If she had to step away completely for a while, I guess I'd watch other streamers and focus more on my reps so I don't get too stressed out concerning.
4. No, it's basically just regular streaming but without a facecam. Even when the bubble pops and a new fad takes over, it's here to stay as a normal form of streaming.
5. I don't know what I'd say specifically, but I'd let them know that they're making the right call and every hobby is best done in moderation. Hopefully they can find something new to fill the space.
5.1. I've been trying to eat better and start cooking for myself more. Eventually I'm going to start properly working out more and hopefully I can get into a martial art of some kind. It's not really a goal but I've also been inspired to work on more artistic things like drawing and singing after seeing all these vtubers enjoying it.

As most things do. Koragi and Shimada showed us that sometimes life can throw you for a loop. They came back, but others who end up in similar situations might not be able to. Some may be forced to stop, and others might just find their time is done. In the latter's case it might just be time to bow out gracefully and appreciate the time they've had, which has hopefully been good.

I don't have unique or good advice to give. In the end all of this is supposed to be fun. If you're not having fun it might be time to take a break and consider what's keeping you from quitting. It shouldn't feel like an ordeal, or something that you must do. But it might also be that those feeling of tiredness, tedium, and dread are just be temporary, and the spark that got you into streaming could come back. Leave a door open just in case.

4. Yes it does, same as everything. Although this all depends on the person. For example if you start out with pro-league level of gaming, you either stop streaming or change your content once you get too old to be good at games.

5. Take a break. If you start doing what you enjoy as your job, it's easy to absolutely annihilate your free time because you think "Hey, I could do that on stream, that way I'm productive". Don't. That leads to self destruction. Create time for yourself where you do things you want, no matter if they'd be "stream relevant" or whatever.

5(again). Over the Covid time, I finally got enough time to sleep, eat and excercise. Now I'm no longer underweight, don't want to throw myself in front of the train each morning, my grades improved and funnily enough even my performance in games.

I keep a fairly tight lid on my parasocial gosling urges so I'd cope just fine to be honest. Now if they up and quit, that might be different.

As a career it doesn't have a long shelf life but I actually think some people can keep it going for a long time. Nyanners has been a "content creator" forever, just the way she entertains an audience has changed. But I would think a lot of savvy vtubers will take notes and understand that streaming on twitch won't last forever, so you look for ways to keep your career going. Whether that's doing roommate reps, trying to put out performances in adjacent industries (music, VA), etc. For the "I do it for fun" crowd, these considerations aren't really relevant since you'd only stop if you no longer have fun doing it.

That it's okay to feel burnt out, nobody can go at full speed all the time. Take a break, spend time AWAY from the space, meet friends outside of the niche. Just do things to refresh yourself mentally. Sometimes you don't even need to take a break, just slow the schedule down a bit. Sometimes a break is good. Just depends on the person. The important part is you do it not because you want to "refresh yourself to avoid burnout" but because you need time for (you) as a person as opposed to you as an entertainer.

I've lost a bit of weight but I think my big improvement has been with confidence reps. I'm manifesting a bit more assertiveness in the workplace and it's a double edged sword. I'm slated to be assuming more responsibility next year which will come with a good pay bump but it will mean I have to re-evaluate whether I have the time and energy to still engage in the hobby as a chuuba or just be a viewer/filthy vchatter.

Time limit for single streams? Depends on what's being done. Time limit like a 'lifespan' for the hobby, before it becomes unsustainable? I don't think so. VR is part of the future and vtubing is kind of a precursor to accessible and affordable VR hardware.

Try to only stream what you want when you want to do it. Hayy. Rough day too? I'm seeing a trend with your questions, but I'll avoid (excessive) concernfagging for now.

1) Didn't into streamers until finding HoloEN1 a month or so after their debut, so we're right up on about a year now. Time flies, huh.
2) There's always that concern. Life has a way of making things troublesome to keep up forever. Nothing lasts forever, be it quietly stopping or going out with a bang.
3) No oshi, but if any of my favorites had to go on extended leave, I'd understand. It'd be painful, but circumstances sometimes call for it. They put on a show for us, the viewer, and sometimes Pagliacci just can't do it. As callous as it sounds, there's always more shows going on every day, so distraction with those, with reps, with anything possible.
4) Streaming goes on as long as the entertainer wants it to. Platforms rise and fall, but live and/or prerecorded content will find a way to keep being distributed, even as the world comes crashing down.
5) Here's where I'll try to really avoid being excessive; I'd tell them to take that break. Unless their goal is to go out like a firework, which expends all they have for one glorious moment, they have to live too. Streamers are people, and people need to unwind. People need to relax. All work, no play, all that rot. Take it EASY. If there's worry about dropping things entirely if they stop, then slide into a relaxed mode. Stop fretting over assets, over putting on the ideal show, over the effort they believe is necessary. Relax. Unwind. Don't grow to hate it because of a mental monster.
5) I did my liftreps today, fighting against the intense desire to not. I did my cookreps today, fighting against the intense desire to not. The day passes. There is comfort in the routine. Reps are a way of life, the road to being your best self. You can't be your best self if you slack, but you can't be your best self if you burn out, because life will keep going until Death comes. Thank you for the well wishes Ary, I appreciate them! I actually wouldn't say a whole lot will change except I'll have more money and less free time. But it's more of a tipping point where I might lose the chance to decompress properly after work and worry about streams to the point where I stop enjoying it. And if it came to that, I'd rather just support the people who are streaming with passion in this community as opposed to half assing it myself.

As for the question, sometimes we're our own worst critic. I honestly think your My Immortal finale earlier was one of the best feel good fun streams I've watched in months. One of the reasons I actually decided to become a chuuba was because of the Haachama schizo streams earlier in the year. There's an undeniable level of scuff, mistakes, and general lack of planning in those streams especially since it never led anywhere. But it was impressive to see a "live performance" in the sense of trying to string together timed OBS assets to form a (somewhat) cohesive narrative, and trying to integrate fanworks into the "story" was amazing too. I had a small group of friends who I'd watch the streams with and we'd react and all of that. The sense of community and theatre FAR exceeded whatever technical hangups I had over the streams and I'll always have fond memories of them. And I think that may apply to some of your streams too.

So I guess what I'm saying is try not to get into your own head a bit too much when looking over what you've done. It's important to be critical of what you do, but not to the point where you lose perspective and second guess yourself.

Corpse was talking about her upcoming anniversary earlier in the stream and it made me want to check out her first VOD just from curiosity. I find it kind of fascinating how you can clearly spot some big differences in her setup (no chat, larger text that's pretty lacking in punctuation, her png covering up part of the game screen) between then and now despite how deliberately minimalist it still is to this day.

I haven't watched her so I don't know exactly what she said but I didn't start this with the goal of making money, making money was just a side benefit when I realized people wanted to give it to me which at the time I thought only happened to the biggest of streamers. I think most indies I've seen doing well have had something they're good at that they're putting lots of effort into, as much as that answer probably sounds a bit cheap. There's many artists like that, but you also have vtubers that do really well with viewer interaction, and you can notice them doing it out of stream as well. Some put a lot of effort into coming up with stream ideas and preparing for them every time, stuff like unique zatusdans on certain topics.
I guess ultimately they have something that sets them apart and gives something for viewers to keep coming back to them in particular for.

I like the interaction from it, I'm too much of an autist to really engage much on twitter or discord, and I think as entertainers its good for them to have that kind of fan interaction in public anyway. There's definitely potential for it to cause issues but I think what we get on the front desk is pretty reasonable. Even the back is mostly fine, aside from a few for whom it often turns into attention-whoring whether they realise it or not.

I really enjoy zatsudan and I think if the game isn't too gameplay focused then disruptions like that can be okay, but again I'm biased towards them because I'm there for the streamer and not the game. You can always disable those redeems for certain games I guess.
For new viewers you'd have to judge your kind of viewers yourself and which stick around as to whether it'd be a draw or debuff for them to see those redeems, I think it could go either way. Conversely, dedicated streams might still be better, I've noticed that tarot can get a reasonable volume of new viewers coming in for readings but I don't know they stick around.
