Does anybody else feel like some of the songs in the Live had prerecorded vocals? Specifically dazzling, out of frame, the last frontier, comet, 3:12. The voice tracks don't seem to be the same as the original recordings, but they also feel different from the other songs in the live, where you can hear suityan's pitch is absolutely great but obviously not always perfect (as normal in any live performance)

This was clearly meant to be an homage to the game, but said handful have seen it as them using the Ensta "concept" in all but name, through the art, the lyricist, the jackets, and their thoughts on it are pretty much shouting "This is Ensta".
Some think that they can trick people who don't know any better into thinking that they have a collaboration with Ensta. Others are thinking that they went a bit too far with the Ensta theming and are using them as a platform to promote their own work which they monetized. Apparently Happy Elements does not like people making works that are very similar to Ensta, but I can't say that for sure. Others feel that just because she's a fan of Ensta and Ritsu, that she doesn't deserve to do this. And the fact that she did it, makes some of them question if they're "truly" Ensta fans.

Not a hatepost, genuinely curious. Why do Suisei's dance moves all look so dorky during the live? It doesn't look like she's doing anything wrong, but I'm also not a dancer/choreographer so maybe it's something I can't describe properly with an untrained eye. Personally she tends to make jerkier movements (trying to get the move done) instead of getting the essence of the dance through the movements. She has been getting better though. I think the best example of this would be Ai Dee with Flare and Festival. Festival really knows what the song and dance is all about, so she moves her body to the music. Flare, while she may not 100% have the same mastery over the dance as Festival, knows what the dance is supposed to be like, so her entire body moves with the same sultry style. Suisei tends to focus more on the technicality of it compared to the whole, I think, so while she's technically doing it right, she's still missing that certain je ne sais quoi

I think the point about the jerky movements is the biggest contributing factor. She doesn't have that crucial "flow" to her movements. If there was just a bit more bounce or sway between moves I think it'd make a world of difference.

I think they were used at the very start of some songs and then there's no playback, because a lot of her songs start with the vocals before any instruments kick in so getting the timing right was probably not worth the trouble (e.g. NCP, Stellar Stellar). I didn't hear much in the other songs you mentioned, I'd have to double check.

Not the biggest fan
Some background on my history with vtubers, I discovered them during lockdown in mid-2020 and pretty quickly fell into the rabbithole. Due to this, I have known of Suisei vocal and overall musical ability since I got into vtubers, and with that in mind, this album is mildly disappointing to me, but not completely surprisingly, here's why.

For the sake of organisation, I'll give the review track-by-track, starting with Stellar Stellar.
Stellar Stellar, in lieu of a better way to explain it, feels pretty cluttered and messy in terms of musical concepts, verses and choruses feel almost stitched together at times. Coupled with a rather subpar mixing job, it really wasn't a very good start to the album, especially compared to the earlier released masterpiece that was Sanji Juunihun with the same composer.

Next up, there is the almost-iconic Suisei song, NEXT COLOR PLANET. Despite having heard it many times since falling into the vtuber rabbithole, it does still manage to offer up an enjoyable listening experience and is overall a pretty solid song.

Third in the album, is Tenkyuu, another iconic classic which really plays to Suisei's vocal strength, great song once again.

Following that, is possibly the least impressive song in the album for me - GHOST. I'm not sure if it's just me being nitpicky, but GHOST really lacks anything to speak of, the entire format and composition reeks of generic anime OP. The easiest way to describe GHOST is that it sounds like just another seasonal anime op you'll forget about right after the anime ends. A shame considering the song being one that's rather special to Suisei herself.

Bye Bye Rainy is interesting, while it definitely is able to stand out on its own as a song, the upbeat instruments and jazzy overall presentation is a little overdone for my liking, and is not helped by the seemingly random choice of lead near the end of the song.

Dazzling - in a few ways is a jazzy song done right, with an elegant style and clean presentation, it strongly plays into the best of Suisei's voice.

Bluerose, once again is a rather jazzy song, which while not quite as well suited to Suisei as dazzling in my opinion, is still a well composed and mixed song that's worth listening to if you're into mixing things up a little.

comet on the other hand, is just yet another (Kawaii) Future Bass song, and if you've heard one, you've heard most of them. And comet is one of the songs you'd have heard.

Andromeda is once again a rather unremarkable song, this time taking the form of a typical anime ED rather than a OP like GHOST. Though that doesn't make it much more interesting than GHOST. The same issue I had with GHOST applies to Andromeda, it's pretty forgettable and lacks anything which makes it stand out amongst a crowd of other Jpop.

Je t'aime feels and sounds pretty rushed, with the song inexplicably wedged between the melancholy Andromeda, and the extremely upbeat Starry Jet. Awkward placement aside, it's jazz if that's what you're into, just not the best even within the album.

Onto the penultimate Starry Jet, this song is just fine I guess, nothing especially good or bad jumped out at me when listening to it, and it was relatively pleasant to listen to.

Now, last and very possibly least, is Kakero. This song has a chorus which rhythm-wise is rather similar to SPARK-AGAIN by Aimer. And while the rhythmical similarity doesn't immediately turn me off, the overall tone (or lack thereof) was more than enough for me to conclusively say that I could barely make it through an entire playthrough of the song, making it stand right up with my other least favourite songs in this album.

Overall, looking past the hype that this is Suisei's first album, and probably the biggest ever VTuber release, I'm not very impressed by the album as a whole. But credit where credit is due, a few songs are good examples of Suisei's vocals at their best, and the album will likely hold up as an example that VTuber music can be up there with other studio quality productions.

I'd like to ask if anyone else feels this way, but I'm kind of frustrated by Stellar Stellar and the new Out of Frame because of the production/mixing/composing. I know the Arte Refact boys are good, but I'm really here for Suisei's voice / Tokomachi's voices. Next Color Planet struck a good balance, but they feel overshadowed newer songs.

Really wish there's an acoustic version soon with a simple accompaniment, a la LiSA's on The First Take.
