Hololive was first in best dressed. Also, wave 3 flopped due to lacking a carry. You effectively have 3 wosemi's and the worst caricature of kiara. There's no standout Niji who can effectively hype Ethyria up, leading to them underperforming.

Every gen needs a natural anchor. Gura, Kronii, Elira, and Selen all serve that purpose for their respective units. Unfortunately, this apparently didn't factor into their casting decisions for gen 3.

That, and the song is more of an artsy ending song for a shoujo animethat a lot of people will just skip over. It's not a hype shounen ballad anyone can rock out to. That'll further limit its numbers.

It seems like Millie was aimed as the anchor and kind of is for Ethy, although I think it's just the talents aren't that engaging really. Enna is actually-personable and charming if you bother to listen to her talk long enough so I think she'll keep growing over time, the rest I dunno. Nina and Reimu seem potentially bound to get pulled into niches for RU/SP streams sooner or later, Millie is just OK but I don't find her super-interesting and she just kind of has basic pleb tastes despite wanting to be fun and creative as a chuuba.

It feels like she was just a shoe-in at the last minute because Anikara saw Kronii's massive SC success and assumed it must be because of her voice, so went and dug through their pile to find the deepest-voiced one that applied and replace whoever was queued up for that model with her just to copy it.

2. memes, they are good way to build up popularity quickly.
3. streaming style, Hololive just fits the general public more, like I can watch or share most of their streams together with my coworker who has no idea of anime, but I will be very hesitate to do so with Niji En.
4. A leader, that is someone who has the ability or charisma to lead and organize collabs and events. So far for Niji En, I don't see that. For Holo, we don't need to look far, just look at how Kiara organized the Mario Kart and the latest amongus.
5. Niji En most of the time only stream within their branch or with ID branch, very limited contact with the Main branch, so far they still felt like an outsider group for Niji, yet for Holo, they mixed really well, people can feel the exchange of culture.
6. Youtube AI, less subs means less views and less views mean less money to Youtube, the AI is likely not to make them go to the top. Hololive started early in the west and took the biggest and the most delicious part of the cake.

Because she does do dual language commentary during a time slot not occupied by others. Her streams are often well before noon. Yes there are people with different tastes that might want someone that doesn't have as much of a high pitch voice and someone that's calmer. There's nothing wrong with varying vtubers that fit different people more. Reimu will take the longest to find her footing while Nina has already found hers.

The real answer is NijiJP, KR, ID did nothing to capture an EOP fanbase before NijiEN debuted. Korone, Fubuki, Coco, etc would pander enough to generate memes and clips that were EOP accessible, so Myth hit the ground running. Name a Niji that did anything similar, that EOP fans are excited about NijiEN collabing with? Aside from the Apex angle there isn't much. Hana might have been the best option and she burned her EOP bridges long ago
