Vtuber fans and particularly hololive fans do act like how bronies used to act and the fandom did rise in popularity out of nowhere in similar fashion, while also being autism dense. So it's kinda applicable, but there's two issues I have with the term.

1) It treats bronies as if they are/were anything particularly unique. Weebs had been doing what bronies did for years, but everyone was already used to it. Other fandoms do the same stuff in general, but a lot of them are too small to really be that annoying, or are large but have been around for so long that everyone is used to them. Look at sports fans as an example, they dress up in their gear and be spastics, harass people in public about their team/sport and plaster their car in bumper stickers.

2) It's just a gay sounding term, it's fucking embarrassing to use it as an insult.
