I feel like there are lots of ways to improve my streams outside of the stream itself (or maybe both the stream and outside) but I am too far removed from what is normal for vtubers to understand. I know I need a full body model eventually and to do a 2.0 model and a lot of other things, but I feel like my layout, overlays, etc. Need a lot of polish in a way I am not smart enough to understand. I want to be Retro Mouse level polished but even though I watch her and see what she does right, my brain cannot comprehend what I need myself.

Or maybe since I am mostly self made and do not put much money into assets outside of equipment, comparing myself to someone who has put a lot into skebs and laptops I'm layouts and commissions their model is foolish of me. And my consistency is more important than everything but that is it's own issue.

There's a technique I remember helping me a bunch that I heard about. Take a small activity or 30 minutes of your day and pretend you're streaming/narrating while you work. It allows you to start to do it more naturally even when you have a bunch going on. Also how do you know who I am?

Working with others is difficult. I think the biggest thing is to add value to them and their viewers if you can. Think about jokes, tips, tricks, and things you can do to make the new eyes on you matter. A book I'm reading has a pretty good bit of advice on this and I think it's #2 on the list of things to summarize after zag.

This is going to be roundabout as all heck, so bear with me. I was drawn to you by that goofy road trip game you played back in spring or so, because of your ramblings while struggling to keep the physics engine (and vehicle engine) from crashing. Since it's been a hot minute since I got to see anything more than a bit of the silly 4X game, and a hotter minute since the thing prior to that, I'm operating off of old experience.
I want to watch your streams because of your zatsu technique, instead of the selected game, most likely. I'm not a huge grognard myself, so I don't have the shared draw of nerding out over tabletop stuff, but I do very much like hearing your sperging-out over whatever's tugging your woober at the moment. My take of an ideal game selection is one that functions as a more passive backdrop, instead of a focus-demanding performance piece, as to enable you to speak your thought-trains into actual words. I didn't get the chance to catch the rare morning stream, because of course, so I don't know how game-focused and how zatsu-focused it wound up being, and I definitely can't catch the midnight EST ones, so my opinion might mean bugger-all in comparison to those that can actually catch that timeslot.
That zatsu-type content is trickier to clip than game-performance-type content, unless you set up for some absolute zingers that fit in the ~30-60 second window that's ideal for a clip, so if you can think of witty punchlines to cap off a particular topic, maybe start making summaries that end with the punchline if you're in the market for "clippable" material.
This all comes from someone that likes lower-energy, instead of zoomer that OD'd on speed and meth simultaneously, content, thinking about what might draw other crowds as well. I like relaxed, from a >m*le or from a >w*man, but I recognize that not everyone does.
If >>> is giving you mental hangups, I'd recommend just focusing on making a consistent dent in whatever timeslot you think can make work, then start monkeying with the stream content proper. Consistency is king for being able to draw in people, because there's definitely a mental plus from the viewer perspective if you know roughly when to expect someone to be on.

If it helps with the DMs, people love hearing from you. In any given situation, people will like it if you reach out (especially after being sent something) unless there's something affecting them.
Your overlay isn't bad, but it's generic. I think you grabbed it off twitter, right? You tend to default to your room more, which I think people like, since it is more 'you'. You should consider making or otherwise acquiring an overlay that is also 'you' - perhaps taking inspiration from the color palette of the cadet and the shapeshifting, technical nature of that pokemon that is also a phone? A cadet themed overlay, I know you don't use (many) alerts, and alerts would be cute and thematic.
If by retro mouse you mean picrel, I think you're there or close in terms of mechanical polish (transitions, hold screens, format, shilling your socials and stuff). To fill what's missing takes confidence and consistency (you nailed it).

Right now, you're seated comfortably right near the "able to turn Partner" line in terms of CCV and weekly streamhours, once you're fully back in the saddle after burnout-avoidance and medical chicanery. Self-made assets are a definitive plus from my perspective. It immediately indicates that you're willing to put in your own time, effort, and energy towards your content. It's a direct signal that "you're willing to work."
The streaming assets (overlays, transition screens, BGMs, even models) are always sources of "this could be better, I can be more polished" even if you've asymptotically approached literal perfection. Keep in mind, big-money streamers will churn through expensive assets like they're dollar store props, so the arithmetic is different depending on your "budget" of time or money. Don't let yourself be paralyzed by the thought that your assets are insufficient for streaming; people wouldn't be watching you if your streams sucked!

Honestly, unless there's a magical deadline you have to meet, take your incline at your own pace. Work on assets related to streams at your own pace. Work on non-stream activities at your own pace. Do not feel pressured to produce things, or spend money for things, at anything other than YOUR OWN PACE. That way lies burnout, much like streaming too many hours. Please don't burn out. You don't deserve to go out like that.
On the DMs thing, since you only have a finite amount of brain to work with, and many fans that love to interact with you (me inclusive), it would probably be most productive to close them, even if it would shut me out. ToME may have been a good bet, but not every roguelike is like ToME and once you get into graphics you start getting closer to the -lite end of things.
You sparked an idea for what I could do to fix that, though, since I've been defaulting towards games I consider guilty pleasures, lately. Picky might actually be a great inspiration for this sort of thing. If you take a look at her streaming assets, they all strongly lean into either her retro aesthetics or bug iconography. You have a lot of potential sources of inspiration to pull from: raygun gothic visuals, the bright colors contrasted by fading and wrinkling of old sci-fi book covers, fonts used in classic alien movies, raygun and cheesy alien alert noises, etc. Just find parts of your setup and think, "What can I add her to make viewers feel like they stumbled upon the sci-fi section of a book store" in the same way Picky evokes "accidentally stumbling into a bug themed 1980s Japanese commercial."

This was as big worry, that maybe there was some way I was putting people off without realizing it. A lot of vtuber things go over my head and I cannot tell if they are required or if they are over the top additions. My only real streaming experience is with facecam streamers and they usually use nothing not a starting/ending screen. So I do wonder if maybe I am missing something. Like stingers/transitions! Ohh, no, you misunderstand! I watch facecam streamers primarily. Over the last 8 years of using twitch. So my understanding of streaming is from that. I have seen trends but do not participate in many of them because I do not really understand why they are liked or their purpose. Like the leg thing, or any other trend. I am not good at understanding these things, so I ignore them.

What determines the time you choose? Are you unable to choose a time that is less early for you or does it work best based on your schedule? I agree that consistency is something you want to get down first. It is like when you go to time doctor and they want you to normalize your sleep/eating before looking at anything else, to make sure that is not the problem. That might also help with feeling so tired you cannot think of things to talk about.

I really empathize with you wanting to stream for longer... I was pushing myself to stream more even when I was not physically fit to and it hurt me every single time. You are able to have fullfiling streams while protecting your health! You may have to limit yourself to an hour or two (at least for now) just to get down a consistent schedule.

If you feel lost, is it based on what you do? Do you think your streams out or just go live and do whatever? Are you satisfied after a stream? Do you stream because you want to or because you feel you have to?

Most people have that on because it's the default these days. Verified chat is the minimum that twitch has it set you. You can manually turn it off but I'm pretty sure most streamers haven't touched that setting at all. 00D8H.

I know I had email verification on since that filters an okay chunk of the bots that I personally deal with. No need for phone verification until I get hit with a bot raid.
