There's a genuine high chance if you make an effort to be consistent and build a good personality to show to your audience, there are so many ASMR/GFE people turned chuuba and there's more by the day. Depending on what you'll be doing, I recommend learning how to tag your videos correctly, pick up tips from watching the likes of HaloSweety, hinamalina, fallenshadow, etc.

I'm not keen on the idea of PNGtubing myself, which is why I've been using a substitute 3D avatar for a while that I was given permission to use by a japanese 3D artist that I emailed. step 1 is to become aware of when you drop into defaulting to guttural speech.

grab a notepad, postit, stickynote, whatever. keep it with you and when you talk outloud and notice yourself dropping into gutteral speech, pull it out and write down a tally mark. the idea is to figure out when you instinctively resort to guttural speech.

once you become more aware of how often it happens, you can start working on changing that into a new habit.

there is no "normal" you just pick one and go with it. it'll develop and settle down overtime. look at even Pikamee from VOMS. her review of her own debut stream, you can see how much her voice changed and developed over time and settled down on something that was comfortable for her. look at Snuffy, who started with a high pitched voice and gained the confidence from her audience to just a more natural sounding voice and now just sticks with it.

Dont look at companies as a long term thing, if you can gain a loyal audience you can keep them after you leave and they'll forever support you no matter what. Look at Morino Peari who recently left a company and kept all her fans. I'm considering doing some light vtubing as a side hobby. I figure the process of learning a new medium to design and rig a model will improve my art, have experience in events hosting/MCing irl and just think it sounds enjoyable if you don't get too involved in the meta of things. My only concern is my current hardware. I can source a decent graphics card if required (not 3080 tier but in an acceptable range for what I have seen others using, at least as an indie) but my motherboard is still Haswell tech and I'm curious if I will likely have processor bottlenecks. What's a good growth rate to aim for on Twitch in terms of average viewers? Right now I sit at around 45 and I've been streaming since the end of Spring, but I'm feeling very inadequate due to streamers around me growing a lot faster.

There's three (or four) main things to consider:

1 - Male or Female
2 - Primarily Games, Primarily Art, Primarily ASMR, mixing them up?
2b - What sort of games/art?
3 - How much have you spent?
(4 - how much following did you have before you started)

For 1, women will get quicker initial growth. Especially if you have no prior incarnation, you'll grow much faster if you're female. You'll have to put up with sexpests more, but that's ignorable.

For 2, if you do art, you'll see faster growth (the art buff IS real), and I believe you might too if you do ASMR, but I've not seen anyone break it down yet. Also, if you exclusively stream EU4 and nothing else ever, you might grow amongst fans of that, but you might find you reach a ceiling.

For 3... If you buy a vroid with blender textures, full fave rigging, emotes, overlays, transitions, BGM, etc... You'll do better than if you're a reactive PNG with nothing else. also vroid is super easy imo to do. there's some really good tutorials! the hardest part for me was that you actually have to import some textures into the actual files for it. it's really fun to play around with! also, the textures can be done in any art application if saveable as a png. i can make a good hair texture in like five minutes if anyone's interested. if you have a good perception on how hair and facial proportions work, then you're golden lol. there's hardly any learning curve to vroid since it's basically all laid out for you already

there isn't one because the industry isn't standardized like that. but a good rule of thumb is that if you're stagnating you need to stop and change up you content. you don't want to be streaming to the same 20 viewers for 5 months. that's basically 4 months of waste time you could be adapting and changing things up.
