I'm not against corporate vtubers, but the problem with Hololive is that they have a danger of being lazy and low effort, because they're at the top of vtubers and they don't have any reason to try hard because people will watch them and pay them regardless. It's already happened with EN gen 2 with all of their breaks and 3-stream weeks, but it remains to be seen if the new JPs will be consistently good or not. I hope they won't rest on their laurels like Council and that they'll be good entertainers who stream regularly. Personally I'm gonna keep on watching VERSEn because despite them being handled by a big company, they might as well be indies with how small their audience is, and the streamers have been doing a good job so far because they have to put in effort to keep an audience compared to the top most popular vtubers.

Yeah I don't get the complaint about that. HoloX only has the bare minimum of lore to connect the talents, they're much more individually focused than that overblown shitfest that is EN2's lore. I'd say HoloX is even less connected by lore than Edengumi so if you're gonna bitch about chuuni lore you might as well bitch about Nijisanji too lol

I'm morbidly curious as to what goes through the mind of people who sperg about corpo chuubas and those who like them. Do they think it makes them appear "cool" because they're being contrarian and rejecting what's popular, when in reality all it does is make them look like bitter retards? I'm not going to say it won't be a problem as we've yet to see the debut for the rest of Gen 6 and their schedules (if they have them), but Laplus didn't give me EN2 vibes at all. EN2 is really an outlier in how much they're taking this for granted because they know they're pretty safe riding the coattails of those who came before them and who actually put in the work.
However, EN2 is the only gen so far in Hololive that is remotely like this, so I don't think it's fair to say Gen 6 is in danger of being lazy and low effort just yet. I'm personally hopeful from Laplus's debut.
If Gen 6 turns out to be hard workers, then I'd say it's a western problem as opposed to a Hololive problem.
