By asking people who are brutally honest for advise. Also by looking into ways of improving their equipment and comparing your content to your favorite chuubas content. Ask yourself "what do i think is missing in comparison to my favorite" Don't copy them but get inspired!

Face posting and cancel culture are the first things i could come up with. I also hate that chuuba unity is pretty much unachieveable. Some chuubas won't give you the time of day if you're smoll.

My love for them has increased. I made so many friends. I barely ever get to talk to you but i like to consider you one too. All things considered i'm doing quite well and physically i'm in good shape. Mentally i've gone through quite some torment this year. But it feels to me like i'm only getting stronger and more mature. No more constant anxiety fits, no more constant suicidal thoughts. I like to think my change in diet and working out are mostly the cause of this. But i think it's also my brain that is changing. Thanks for reading my blog Ary and Anons.

Incredibly shortsighted take. Clipping takes time and commitment that takes away from other things. If a chuuba is selfmade, they have to do their art, assets, plan their stream, actually stream, social media reps, and be active in their community ON TOP of real life engagements (work, family, etc). Outside of the easy clipping twitch allows, being able to listen through a many hour long VOD to then get into an editing program and clip it (and that is even if you have a decent sense of humor and can make it funny) is more than difficult for the average person. Oh, I apologize, that implies you actually know how to edit video. If you do not, you have to take the time to learn that before you can make halfway decent clips.

Clipping, like art, for example, is a skill built up over time. If a streamer only has to really focus on clipping and maybe social media in their spare time then sure. But there is a reason most accounts that clip have dedicated editors and the ones who did themselves release their clips few and far between.

You think so? I am not sure how I feel about corpo vtubing. I appreciate it as an alternative, and it is essentially "doing what you love" as a job. Hm. I have not really put enough thought into it.

Clipping reps are the strongest reps there are. More people will discover you through your offline content than through anything else besides a magical raid from Iron Mouse that won't even hold up in a few days. If a chuuba is self made then odds are they've already got all the art assets they needed day 1. Anything besides your model, and maybe a background and overlay are extras.

Clipping/Editing isn't some "bonus skill" that you just do on the side, like singing, drawing, etc. It's a necessary part of being a content creator.

I realize it's probably not as important as I think, but game choice always seemed pretty important for streamer content. Ideally, the game shouldn't take up too much brainpower, or if it does it shouldn't have harsh time limits so the streamer can chat while mulling things over.

"Every" is a bit hard to quantify... if it's alright to say something a couple of chuubas do, I'd say I hate daily streams. It helps streamers blow through content fast but in some cases (specifically long playthroughs) it can be impossible to show up for every stream.
And on some level, I also want to watch other vtubers than my oshi in that timeslot.

It feels good to have an oshi that has lasted the entire year without graduating. At least some of the chuubas who got through the year were able to because of their passion for this hobby, and the fact that those hobbyists will be around for the next year makes the light at the end of the tunnel look especially bright.
That, or it's a train coming through. You can never be too careful about investing in a hobby.

I don't think "chuuba unity" means full, communistic unity. Why should Iron Mouse give me the time of day? Why should Nemu? Why would someone be contacting her if it wasn't to benefit other than to tell them "I really like your content!" which you can do just fine on socials or through a dono?

There's lots of chuubas who help one another out, it's mostly just behind the scenes. I'm in multiple circles that help one another out with content ideas, assets, advice, etc. We're all of similar sizes as well but there's bigger and smaller people in these circles too. It's just a matter of being sociable and likeable enough to get in. No it doesn't mean kissing ass, it means taking the steps to befriend someone who feels the same way.

Relatable. I feel like my oshi would never graduate, but I also feel very guilty not to be streaming for people who may enjoy my content. It is a funky hobby that is still very new in some regards. It is interesting to see who can handle streaming for the long haul and who has to let it go.

It's crazy the amount of times I find a streamer that's offline, dig around waaaay longer than most people would put up with for a schedule, find no VOD archive, no clips, etc. It's not just good for people finding you, but also people shilling you, here or otherwise.

Not every vtuber, but leaning way too hard into character. Like yea, we know you aren't a real catgirl/robot/zombie/whatever, it should be a fun element of the stream, not something that we have to constantly talk around in chat. This is way more common in corpo vtubers than indies I've found, though that's probably selective bias because I just change stream if the vtuber is too heavy on the acting. Moriko tends to be good at treading this line, for example, because she uses her "lore" for jokes but will still talk about irl things without it being a chore to talk around the lore.

I got into this because it was a bunch of people being creative without the inhibition of embarrassment being tied to a real name account. It let me make random stuff for people that appreciate it too, and I've had a lot of fun doing that. I don't hate people who show their face and i'm a fan of cosplay. But it does ruin my immersion and that's my problem with it. I don't follow vtubers to see people become so jealous of their persona that they start posting selfies. Vtubing is like watching cartoons to me. I don't need to see selfies of the voice actors.

1. Reps and being mindful of their viewer responses. Not necessarily bending to their viewers' wills, but simple awareness and responding to it in whatever way they think is right
2. I enjoy karaoke and art and other chuuba standbys like debuts, but not everyone needs to do it. Vtubing can be more than just copying japanese idol culture or doing what everyone else has done.
3. Friendship ended with big corpos. Now western indies are my friends. Maybe I'm just starved for friends and social interaction but being able to actually have conversations and become a regular face means a lot, even if it's just to an online persona and their other regulars. Not being held back by corporate policy and licensing and rights and all is another plus.

It's a pretty a grim topic so I understand if you ignore it. But do you think when chuubas or streamers graduate or quit, they should disappear into the void and completely free themselves from their online persona? Or would it be better if they stuck around with the fanbase and friends they've made, even if it means they can't completely leave?
As a viewer, it seems like a lot of chuubas get into streaming so they can become more confident or get their social interaction reps in, but it seems heartbreaking to have to cut that out of your life when you graduate. If it were me, I don't think I'd be able to just leave everyone behind like that.
