There are recent photos of the lunar landing sites showing the equipment left behind, but they're taken from probes put into lunar orbit. So very similar to satellite images on earth.

Telescopes of any decent size use mirrors, not lenses. Meteorite hit on the mirror would be bad, but it wouldn't screw everything up nearly the same way damaging a lens would.
