Takamori is a genius **fictional** pairing. The concept of a Phoenix being in love with Death is so fun, Mori's goth aesthetic with Kiara's bubblegum aesthetic is also a huge draw. So the appeal is there, if this was a written story the characters would make a great pair be it in drama or even SoL.

The problem was that these are real people and you can't force real chemistry. Mori was clearly not into playing along and it just made things awkward, there's really no difference in behavior between Mori and her RM and she obviously doesn't want that.

In another life I can see another girl who is really into the kayfabe get Mori's character and make Takamori an amazing couple but we didn't get that. In the end Kiara developed a natural relationship with Ame which is way better than a scripted pairing so i'm still okay with how things turned out.

I don't think management or Cover really cares about shit like that, they've never done it in JP and yuribait is way more accepted in JP than EN (we even know how EN management actively tries to avoid Japanese behavior like using senpai and generations).

The ship was just too good theoretically speaking so thats why girls went with it at first, for example another obvious ship was InAme because the "detective" or "investigator" is a very common archetype in Lovecraftian fiction and having the detective falling in love with the eldritch monster is an obvious story right there BUT Ina and Ame are not really that interested in ships so they probably didn't even talk about it.

With regards to Takamori i'm sure it was Kiara who first proposed the idea because well... Kiara is Kiara, she's a romantic, she loves the whole weeb and idol identity, yuribait is a quintessential part of idol fandom for decades and Hololive already had several pairings so she probably saw it as pretty normal.

I wouldn't worry too much. Hologra is basically just wacky lolsorandumb skits, not anything serious. The "worst" that's going to realisticly happen is we just get more of the usual "poggers ocean!" out-of-touch corporate cringe that happens when someone only knows the character from their profile sheet but hasn't watched any streams to get a feel for their actual personalities.

I share the concern that this might possibly lead to some stuck-in-the-past lazy writer trying to flanderize Kiara as still clingy/lovestruck with Mori, and Mori still being a gruff tsundere bitch, to get some cheap comedy from a cliched dynamic, but given that even the JP Hologra rarely/barely involves any serious shipping stuff (and it's not like they couldn't, they have certainly more material to work with over there), and mostly just does wacky nonsense hijinks where the girls' characterizations are all over the place for whatever they need at the moment, it's hopefully not very likely.
