From what little I read up on clockwork, it seems clockwork is easily affected by external elements such as weather, humidity, external forces, etc. So although I like the clockpunk aesthetic and it would be cool to have small clockwork machines/automatons work indoors on delicate tasks, it's not realistic to have military vehicles made of clockwork if we're not bringing the rule of cool into it and have to go the realism route.

No, we have plenty of forts and bunkers on the island(s). An anon has been posting pics of what they could look like and theres a lore post talking about what happens if we're invaded. Basically, we act like switzerland and call up all adult kronies to fight(who have undergone mandatory military service at age 18). It's not modern weaponry, it fits the time period of our island. I think he meant artillery as in field artillery or cannons(that shoot cannonballs not shells like the ones we use today). Rifled barrels refers to muskets with rifled barrels which popped around the mid-early 1800s. Muskets used to be smoothbore, which made them have less range and accuracy. Rifling the barrel meant adding grooves on the inside of the barrel to spin the musketball when shot (like what pro american football players try to do when throwing) which makes the musket bullet go a lot farther with better accuracy. Also remember that some other nations have regular muskets and arquebuses.
