I don’t know is “saving” is correct but they’re far and away the most important set of people to ever grace vtubing. I don’t think it can ever be stated enough how much Myth influenced the lives of people worldwide, and gave so many people new paths in their own lives. The amount of English vtubers who managed to make a living for themselves, the amount of artists who became recognized and can make a proper living doing pieces for people, hell, even animators are out here getting millions of views off Myth. Pretty sure Dudul has went on record saying that Gura gave him the motivation to animate/draw again. It’s things like that that separate them from the rest.

I think the better argument to make is that without Myth, the motion to be involved with Hololive/vtubers as a whole would have dropped massively and that in turn would have had a major effect on the landscape of things. That in itself could have easily made vtubers go back down to earth. It’s a community that drives the spirit, and so it’s vital that Myth exists.
