I vaguely remember another vTuber talking about this. I think it was Ui Mama talking about why she doesn't like doing avatars. The point is that even if it's not the actual figure doing the shitposting, you unconsciously start to associate those bad users to the image they are carrying and it ends up hurting the actual figure.
I mean I get the point, even if the majority are good fans and never do bad things, it only takes a few loud bad apples or antis falseflagging to stain a fanbase's image. And you know what they say, a chat/fanbase is like the vtuber.

Whenever I see a watame pic attached to a post, I immediately assume they are about to say something fucking stupid before I read the content.
