It's fascinating how Miko barely had 200 subs at one point and now she has more than 900 thousand. Other vtubers were pretty big at the beginning and now declined. Korone took a while to grow as well.

This begs the question, what was behind those phenomenas? Was it just the eventual growth that would happen anyway? Was this because overseas people started watching them more? I wonder how different was the fanbase in the earlier years than the fanbase now. Or maybe they weren't different at all? I wish I had seen this at the beginning of its times to have a better understanding of how things changed.

Doesn't really play any easy to understand games except Breath of the Wild. Notice that the most popular JP Holos are also the ones that play a lot of games that are easy to understand and provide context even when you don't understand Japanese. You don't need to know Jap to watch Pekora suffer in Minecraft, or to enjoy Korone playing kusoge. Holos that rely more on zatsudan have less subs with the exception of Marine who is probably the best overall entertainer in Hololive.

If you think about Noel's weaknesses and her Gen-mates strengths, you realize that her falling off bound to happen. Noel just had an advantage of her past life and her design (I think it's the best in her Gen). If we're talking about iconic designs, Pekora takes the cake in HoloFantasy. The subtle integration of a classic bunny suit into her costume, the weird but not too weird carrots in her hair, and her unique white, periwinkle, and orange color scheme make her design the strongest of her gen.
