When paired with Bae and IRyS, they're able to keep her in check so it's also alright.

Ame isn't nearly as egregious as she was months back. She absolutely debuffed herself and still debuffs her numbers any way she can, but having a consistent schedule while playing Elden Ring has helped get back a lot of her fans. I mean, she got 7k playing a fucking rhythm game yesterday (Ame? Rhythm game?) and managed to climb up to almost 10k with ER hours later.

The main problem is that for growth beyond the niche that is your fandom you need certain things, not all of these are needed, but you might need multiple and luck to also break through.
It helps if you have an easy mainstream appeal.
It's even better if your content is mainstream unique, think Mark Rober. He makes "unique" content but it's not outside the realm of a mainstream audience.
You need to be good in interacting with other popular creators, i.e. collaborating, and in such a way create mainstream growth.
Or the final possibility, you are so good at the thing you do that you can become a phenomenon in that niche. That can create a "oh, she's so unique I want to watch her" effect. An example here is early pewdipie were he was the most entertaining lets player.

Sadly I don't think Gura or any other vtuber has what it takes to break that barrier at this point.
