The point of mobages in the past was they were cheap to develop so your profit would be insane. That's how games like FGO/GBF made ridiculous amounts of money.
As the market evolved, you can't get away with cheap looking games like FGO/GBF anymore, but dumping a lot of money into making a very high quality mobage is extremely risky due to how high the flop rate is for gacha games so now many JP gachas are stuck in limbo.
Also doesn't help that the market is now dominated by the old guard + Genshin + Umamusu.
