mumei is definitely the most normie, no contest

i would say kiara might be the most weeb. Went all in and moved to japan and all. Mori did too but for a different subculture that i wouldn't classify as weeb.

This is correct.
I am not too sure about how weeb Ina, Irys or Bae is, but I would maybe wonder if any of them could challenge Kiara for biggest weeb.
I mean, Irys lives in Japan, but from what I understand Kiara still goes harder into the idol culture (without even going into past life stuff)

I want to say the contest is between Mumei and IRyS. Probably Mumei, but IRyS is a pretty normalfag for a Jap. For Mumei it is a different culture altogether she CHOSE to expose herself to.

if we go by the dictionary.com (very authoritative, i know) definition of a weeb: https://www.dictionary.com/e/slang/weeaboo

>Weeaboo is a mostly derogatory slang term for a Western person who is obsessed with Japanese culture, especially anime, often regarding it as superior to all other cultures.

Irys can't be a weeb because she's not western to begin with.

You don't watch her do you? She would rather spend all day inside watching anime than doing anything outside. Mind you, this is after she purposely spoils herself on the entire story to find out if the story will make her sad. Also, if her preferred ship isn't the one that gets sailed she will flat out drop the show. She is a massive fucking nerd.

The problem with a "weeb to normie scale" is that it's not just a simple convenient one dimensional binary line, like so many people on 4ch and elsewhere like to think. For example, reducing "otaku-ness" only to a very narrow sense of "anime/manga fan" (when in its original japanese definition the meaning is much more broader and generally encompasses being into / knowledgeable / even obsessive about some nerdy interest(s), not just limited to (japanese) pop culture /entertainment).

So you see people (falsely) claiming you can only be a "true otaku (tm)" if you have seen x-thousands of anime and can discuss the most obscure minutiae. It's essentially just another form of hipsterism (the more obscure something you know is, the better your "cred"). All the while dismissing other interest fields, no matter how knowledgeable you might be, as long as they fall outside of their own narrow minded range of anime/manga/games etc.

Take someone like Kiara for example. She doesn't care much for anime (anymore), and even "worse", mostly watches basic Netflix shit instead. The horror, what a normie bitch. That she has taught herself fluent japanese, lived in Japan for years and even worked in the idol industry before doesn't count. N-nuh uh, it doesn't matter if she's more knowledgeable about a specific niche of japanese entertainment (idols) than probably 95% of the board, it's not anime (the thing most people who label others as "normie" have built most of their identity around), so it doesn't count and she's "normie".

By that logic, Sana, Ina, Baelz and Kronii can't be weebs either. Or any of the indogs. That's a flawed definition since weeb is really about obsession with Japan, not the Orient. I would agree Irys can't be a weeb but not because she's not Western, she is, so is Coco. But because her ties to Japan are due to family rather than hobbies. It's not even clear she likes Japanese culture.

In terms of how obsessed they are with Japan, they are ranked as follows:
Kiara > Mori >= IRyS > Sana >= Ina > Fauna > Mumei > Ame > Gura > Kronii >= Bae

Kiara: Loves Japan and Japanese culture (japanese idol culture in particular) to the point where she actually become an idol in Japan. She is so in love with the culture that she learned how to draw very well in manga style, learned how to speak Japanese fluently, and continues to obsess over Japan even back in Europe like when she went to Dusseldorf. She has extensive knowledge about Japan and, despite coming face to face with the horros of actually living there, the place has not lost its appeal to her and she continues to love it wholeheartedly.

Mori: She is not so much a huge fan of Japanese otaku culture, but is instead a fan of Japanese rap. She liked Japan enough to live there permanently which is something that most "weebs" only dream of doing. She is also able to speak Japanese well enough. Her interest in anime is "normie" level but her interest in Japan is definitely not considering she moved there.

IRyS: She is the biggest ani-otaku in EN. She loves Japan and is very knowledgeable about Japanese culture which makes sense considering she is part Japanese herself. Whether her heritage disqualifies her from being a weeb is up for debate.

Sana: Im not so sure about Sana since I have watched her the least out of EN. Taking into account her anime taste in her debut and in the crunchyroll interview, her interest in anime and manga is significant. She was also able to communicate quite well with Pekora in that one minecraft collab so she has done her Japanese reps. Her anime-style art shows lots of dedication to this style and she has skill that can only be achieved through a love of the medium. Im not sure whether she is above or below Ina.

Ina: She makes many references to anime in her streams but, from what I have seen, they are from popular series such as Code Geass and Steins Gate. I think I remember hearing her say she doesnt watch as much anime anymore due to work. However, her dedication to anime/manga style art shows that she has enough interest in Japan to dedicate hundreds of hours of her life to it. Her Japanese ability is also quite good.

Fauna: She has detailed her love of anime and manga in stories of her youth. Her knowledge of anime/manga goes beyond that of the typical fan and is most likely second to only IRyS (and maybe Sana). She spent lots of time drawing anime/manga style art and had a huge manga collection as a child. She was also interested in cosplay as well. I may be misremembering but i think she has mentioned doing her wanikani reps at one point as well. All of this combined shows that she has much more than a surface level appreciation of Japanese culture, though it is mostly anime otaku culture.

Mumei: Has detailed her love of anime and has stayed in Japan for a month for some sort of studying. Her knowledge of Japanese is basic but her willingness to stay in Japan for an extended period of time indicates a larger than normal interest in Japanese culture. Her anime-style art also shows her dedication to the medium.

Ame: She watches more anime and reads more manga than the typical anime fan. It is safe to say that she is very interested in Japan but her obsession isnt as intense as some of the other members. She has a very basic understanding of the Japanese language and can read hiragana/katakana (sort of).

Gura: While she may not be a huge anime otaku, her interest in Japan is evident. She is very interested in vocaloid and has learned enough Japanese to read hiragana and katakana. She also has an interest in Japanese music.

Kronii: I dont know much about her interest in Japan other than her anime preferences. She likes anime enough to watch more contemplative series like Paranoia Agent which would filter the average person. She also has an above average understanding of Japanese.

Bae: Has an interest in anime/manga but im not sure about anything more than that. She is the best at Japanese only after IRyS and Kiara which indicates a significantly large interest in Japanese culture. She is also able to speak Korean though so maybe she just likes language learning. I would put her higher if I knew more about interest in Japan in general but I havent heard her talk too much about that.

I dont think any of them are completely on the "normie" end of the spectrum.

In terms of how much of a normalfag each member is (disregarding interest in Japanese culture) the list is as follows from most to least:
Bae > Mori > Kiara > IRyS > Sana > Fauna > Kronii > Ame > Mumei > Gura > Ina

Bae, Mori, Irys, Sana, and Kiara are all extroverted and have many real friends. Mumei has 0 friends in college while ame has mentioned having people over. Ina lives a hikki lifestyle and Gura has made it clear that she is lonely. Kronii is depressed and Fauna is very well-adjusted and intelligent, but soft-spoken and a bit shy.

Just living in Japan does not make you a weeb. Do you think western businessmen who work there are also weebs just because it's Japan? Mori is very low on the weeb scale, she's one of the few who actively distances herself from weeb stuff, like she's ashamed of it.
I would also say that drawing anime-style art is not necessarily the same as being a weeb. If you just do it as your job, it's not out of being a weeb. Weeabooism might be what got you into the field in the first place, but that doesn't mean you're that much of a weeb anymore. Growing out of weebdom is common.
Otherwise I mostly agree with your list. I think you should just abstain from comment on people you don't know though, like Sana. Put her in her own category instead of inserting her where you imagine.

Finally, Mumei going to a private school != not being a normalfag. She may be sheltered, but that's a different metric.

I dont know where is this "IRyS is a normie" shit coming from. She talked about a ton of different manga and anime during her streams. People are actually putting IRyS in front of Gura when it comes to "normness" which is amazing to me. I guess all these imbeciles anti posting IRyS finally convinced some apes that she is really like that.

You moron. IRyS is a normalfag in behavior. She may know a lot about animu and mango, but when she acts like a Stacy in every collab there's no way people wouldn't consider her a big normalfag. There's more to being a "weeb" than appreciating weeb stuff.

Anon she loves animu and utaite shit
She's definitely on the more mainstream/ normie side in terms of taste, but I think this board forgets how much of an otaku she is because she looks like a Stacy compared to the hikkis/NEETs/weirdos that make up the rest of Hololive.
