I'm thinking about raising a large amount of money and doing a real christmas special. I'm talking The Star Wars Christmas Special christmas special. People get their own segments, there's a thru-story, it's a completely fucking holiday disaster. I've always wanted to do that. I'm cultivating relationships with people right now, thinking about scripts, saving money, etc., to possibly have something put together for next Christmas.
It's something I've wanted to do for a while and now that I'm experiencing some growth, I'm eager to actually start the process.

I think the female buff is a real thing cause like you said the majority of the audience is men but men also go more with either really obscure concepts that don't really go with the mainstream audience or they have a very poor sense of aesthetics and bad social skills. I make decent quality youtube content as my main thing, so taking clips of my characters doing stuff and making memes of the characters and posting them to social media is a big deal.
Just talking to people on Twitter is big, you need eyeballs on you. People do click through and check other people out. I recommend making a Carrd or a Linktree.
Leave comments on other peoples' videos. Engage in genuine interactions. Self shilling really doesn't work, but being active and engaged with other content creators goes a long way, and often leads organically to you talking about your material.

Raiding other streamers is huge. Do you have more than one viewer? Raid. Don't lurk in that chat, actually engage, talk to the streamer. Make sure you vet your raid targets ahead of time, that way you know you're going to be able to sit in on their chat after the raid and actually enjoy the stream. Don't just pick a rando. You're better off not raiding at all than you are raiding randoms.

Use hashtags. Advertise you've got a stream starting, post it to Twitter, post it to Instagram. Use keywords on Twitter and make sure you use all of your available hashtags on Instagram.

Basically, when you're teenie tiny, you just need people to know you exist, and sometimes that's as simple as literally putting yourself in front of one person and declaring that you exist. In a professional and non-shilling manner, of course.

Theres a few different categories of skills that help you be better as a chuuba or streamer.

The most important one is your social abilities. Like talking to yourself/chat, marketing yourself while not streaming, making friends with other streamers and stuff like that. If you are great at this kind of thing you can get an audience no problem.

Second most important are entertainment skills. Like skills in gaming, music/singing, drawing, or planning out stories or joke routines to tell your audience. These kinds of things aren't quite as important but just by themselves you can gain an audience if you are skilled enough in any of these.

Third most important, and probably the easiest one to get better at, is your technical abilities regarding streaming itself and presenting your stream. Things like managing your broadcasting software, mixing sound, using and improving your chuuba avatar, and other production quality things. Unlike the other two categories this one wont get you an audience, but ignoring it will absolutely drive people from giving you a chance at all.

I did try to stream at the start of me being sick, but it super wrecked my throat and made my fever higher. I do think that if I do start to get better, even if my throat isn't all the way healed, I might try some muted art streams since I think my viewers are okay with those sometimes
I also miss the gym, I was pretty active before this. I do go to the gym and try to take care of myself and my body partially because of depression (I also just don't want to grow up to be old and busted), and it does help a ton. I hope being sick doesn't impede the progress I've made but I'm sure I'll get back to where I was in no time. Even though being sick has been giving me a shitty appetite, I've been trying to get some good nutrition in still so maybe it won't make my return so bad.

Success is something that's hard to define. It means different things for a lot of people. For me, I like where I'm at - things could be better, but I'm happy with how things are going.
In the question of what success is, you have to ask yourself what your goals are. Is your goal to turn Vtubing into a profitable career? Because chances of that are insanely low, and not to mention fleeting. Most streaming "careers" last 3-4 years. The money isn't reliable in coming in. You are a face in a sea of faces, in addition to a lot of success being connections and luck.
Is your goal to meet people, make friends, hang out, play some games? Then you could be successful right now.
There is an observed tendency called "The Hedonic Treadmill." The idea is that when we get more money, when we get more success, our baseline for happiness rises to meet our new success - meaning it takes even more to make you happy.
If you want to kill yourself, you'll find a reason to do it regardless of your success. "Successful vtubing" will not make you change those thoughts if you have them now. You should find a way to deal with those thoughts first and foremost; for me, I picked Vtubing, and ithe social aspect has helped greatly with my own suicidal ideations. It's part of the reason why I chose to use a superhero avatar - because when I'm having a bad episode, he helps pull me back.

So, in summation
1. Success won't make you want to stop killing yourself
2. Evaluate what you want out of a hobby like Vtubing and set realistic goals on a realistic timeline
3. Work towards those goals
