I like a few Nijis but I feel nothing for the company as a whole or what they do. That is the difference for many I think. People get really invested in what is going on in Hololive and how the chuubas interact together. But with Niji it is more "I think she is a good singer and she interacts with my favorite chuuba, I'll watch some of her content I guess."

People keep saying this like they absolutely have to watch every talent in the group. Hololive has like 50 people, I'm sure that's too many if you follow them all, but most people don't do such a thing.

A common complaint I've seen about Nijisanji from Hololive fans are that their designs are too similar or uninspired; specifically that many of them are simply JKs. It's true that they have over 10 people who fit that description while Hololive has none, I think it's kind of a superficial issue and they don't lack variety in their actual content since management seems to get in their way a lot less (for better or worse). Also they do have some standout designs like especially among the males.

As for the complaint that there's too many of them, the point is to fill as many niches as possible so a viewer can find the few they enjoy and ignore the rest. I don't even think Cover intend for their viewers to watch everyone, otherwise there would be no point in debuting more talents once they had enough to cover all the good timeslots. There's few enough currently that it's somewhat possible but if they continue expanding, they will run into the same issue eventually.

I tried, I really did, but I just can't do it. I got into vtubers through hololive but I didn't want to be seen as a holo only holofag so I tried to watch Niji. Maybe it's because I watched Hololive for so long but the Niji's were too....normal like they were regular twitch streamers or something. It didn't appeal to me at all.
