For any /meat/ anons that might be around here: the new thread is at >>>/jp/40414508

>> No.27555231

>>27554741
Both posts seem to be asking /meat/ (and /inf/ and /vrt/) about its thoughts on moving out rather than a statement from /meat/ itself. My reply to the latter (>>27551599) also clarifies the hypothesis with an "if" (and that avoiding /2434/ is probably not possible for the whole trade route anyway).

Unrelated but for the record, I don't think /meat/heads in /risu/ would be concentrated in a single space (unless they have to). Some places might have more of them around, but I assume they probably prefer to spread out around if they're allowed to (as I reckon not all settlements will be equally keen on them visiting).

>> No.27555276

alright lets adress the points once more but maybe with a bit more understanding now

>Nijisanji City
City should be reasonable sized for the purpose of being a trade hud as its purpose and not bigger, /risu/ is its own nation and we are all there for trading, not colonisation. It should also not have facilities to produce local weaponry or construct large vehicles like ships (a shipyard for repairs and maintenance is reasonable tho)
>Military Presence
the military presence should be for defense and upholding law and nothing more. exact numbers would need to be worked out but it should not be big enough to put any of the other locations at risk fo attack, same with a local fleet, nijisanji should have just enough ships to be able to fend of local kronii ships or any escorts accompanying the merchant ships of other nations. i am personalyl also agaisnt a fort since no other place has one either and it would kind of open up the defense arms race.

>raw material and mining rights for our companies so long as they obey Risuner law first and foremost. No exploitation of natives at all!
i am against this since again, we are there for trade and not colonistion, whatever the risuners are willing to give to set up the place as well as maintain it is fine but if nijisanji would get preferance here over other nations we would have to demand equal rights and then again it would just open up the mining arms race to gain as much local resources as possible before the others do while risuners basicly get exploited hard.

i hope this is pretty neutral sounding and sounds reasonable

a proper city size would need to be figured out with the risuners

when it comes to the harbor fort, again this all comes down to the /risu/ trust system, no one has a fort there and we are all equally if not further away from home.
if anythign should there ever truly be a bigger outside force trying to threaten the harbors /2434/ is kind of expected to work with the other local forces together to fend it off.
we are all guests of the risuners at /risu/

while a fort might be mainly for defense it also functions as a great base for an attacking force.

as for the coal, just gotta trade for it. risuners already are one of the easiest trade partners you can find, anythign further would just be straight up exploitation.

I just invented a chestnut that can grow in the taiga/tundra. Its a Deep Space Chestnut. It was bred for over thousands of years to grow in deep space greenhouses, which are naturally cold to save power. Risuners cannot grow this chestnut in their homes because it dies from heat and is susceptible to mold. Which makes the deep space chestnut a perfect trade nut. In the story Mac's having a bit of heart to heart with Enoch. Mac might not know what its like to have siblings, but he knows how to make friends.

Not hardly, this would be a small fort in the harbor that as soon as it was cut off from land would be in trouble. Fort Sumter had the same issue IRL and that's why Lincoln had to send ships to resupply it. Unless it was like this, then any offensive operations from are extremely unlikely. Keep in mind that any attempt at bolstering the garrison would be noticed by everyone too.

Alright, in light of my sudden revelation that we are not in fact isolated anymore in present time: a location in Nekobini is a given. It's a mercantile port city so the service of translators just makes sense. If you're alright with it, we can just say you've already had a location there for a while now. The Holy Kingdom would be receptive so long as you make no attempts to venture into the heart of the kingdom. Miklagardr and Yamini are full of scholars with an interest in linguistics for the sake of translating foreign texts, your services would be well-appreciated there. For the Miklagardr location, keep in mind that any travel in or out of the forests of Nordskogen requires local escort for safety's sake, it's an inconvenient posting many of your people may not want to take.

nah it need to be unresonable big and just in range of cannons so it can try to just narrowly dodge shots while others hit but since the armor is made of the finest retro stuff strenghened by retro chuubanite its able to fend them off and then the stored up kinetic energy can be released outward to repell some other shots before they can even land all the while this thign is firing out of way too many cannons and guns itself raining down a world of hurt.

just it appearing on the battlefield should strike fear into the enemy like "oh shit its the Graf Onoberg, we are doomed, we need help!!"

and then one day it can go out in one giant glorious kamikaze ball of fire, or it can be downed and the enemy forces celebrate its fall but it was too low already and instead survives the crash jsut enough to turn into a fortfied forward position still firing

well for one, as long as you got Onobots in the walls /vrt/ is never gonna touch you unless you really provoke it.

but aside form that, this thign is a massive waste of resources that not even onobots could finance repeatidly, and since the bots only want one anyway there is probably never gonna be a second one, at least not until the first one dies and even then probably not.

it also announces its presence from pretty far away so this thing is gonna be anything but stealthy

it also is not indestructible, eventually you will be able to break through it so it cannot just endlessly stay on the battlefield, it also will need to recharge on ammo and fuel ect.

wich brings me to the fact that this cannot just take on battles on its own either, its gonna need support to be able to recharge ect. you break the support line and eventually this thing is just gonna be sitting in the sky on its own doing nothing.

Deadbeats respect the agreements made by their allies within their respective territorial waters. For example, /meat/ slaver ships may operate in impunity within /kfp/ waters. However, this guarantee cannot be requested in international, hostile, or Moriji waters. Criminal investigations may require inspections of suspicious vessels, regardless of their country of origin.
These inspections are uncommon and do not cost anything other than a bit of time, assuming the vessel isn't doing anything illegal (mainly blatant human trafficking, or suspected schizo collaboration).

a small batterry for the harbor situated to ouside the sea sounds fine and the rest is also fine from what i see. rest is up to risuners

as for a trade tribunal, there should be a checkpoint halfway on the big road so having an embassy there where each nation can have a represantive should be fine for such a purpose i think? there we could also set down in paper the general rule that nations even outside of alliances are agreeing to cooperate against any attacks of outside forces not part of this agreement

and one last thing, if i understood it right /2434/ wants a road connected to panrong right? i think you rather want it connecting to the big road between Ceres and Demeter sicne that is the only actual road there, the rest is basicly well traveled dirtroads since risuners have no need for "real" roads

also if /2434/ is interested, /vrt/ would be willing to agree to an agreement where if /inf/ ever goes haywire we would be interfering to either settle any conflict peacefully or at least buy enough time for /2434/ to brace itself or potentially withdraw with their stuff safeguarded and in return /2434/ promises to either help settle potential disputes if we ever get big problems with /inf/ or potentially set up a port office at what new town /2434/ would build. this would give a bit more of a safeguard on the eastcoast.

she has declared her navy already as one of the most powerful, if not THE mos tpowerful one, in the world so even that level of improvement in ship engineering ect would push it way ahead

same with the initial /risu/ deal, you knew even without the context of how /risu/ works that it was a bad deal overall yet encouraged her to pursue it like that.

Carronade sounds pretty lovely, although I don't know if it would be too advanced for us - it's first made in 1759~1779, while I try to stick to the general tech level of 1700~1750. Then again, maybe some leeway is fine at least when it comes to concepts?
As for quicklime, it seems pretty interesting, although I'm not sure about its effectiveness as ammunition since both the rounds and the intended target might be too dry for that. Another factor is that /meat/ chuubanite usually comes in the form of organic stuff, so it might not actually have a lot of (good) chuubanite quicklime.
Still, thanks for the feedback!

You need good metallurgy to make shells reliable enough to not break upon impact but also just thin enough to not contain all the boom. An overall problem I have with 2434's navy rn is that you borrow too much from European navies. For Niji continent's relative isolation and 2434's position as a naval power in that region, you'd expect them to be the one influencing other nations in the area, and not copying what others are doing in the Holo continent. Personally I would advise you to look at 18-early 19th century far eastern shipbuilding and naval tactics to develop a more unique navy for yourself.

Thats down to me realizing that far eastern ships are inferior to European ships (yeah, terrible terrible track record from 1500 on against every european nation). >>27573726
To be fair, during that period, European ship design is pretty much the norm when it comes to large, seafaring navies, so it stands to reason that a navy light on magic will lean towards it. Oriental ship designs tend to be more littoral in nature IIRC, so that might not be a good idea if you want to go far into open sea. For more closed seas, though, it might be less a bad idea. In fact, *near* east ship design might be worth looking into IMO, since I imagine the waters in the closed sea (centred around /ahoy/, funnily enough) would resemble the Mediterranean

Onobots also have heard of the great Battlefield of Love that people mention here and there and the Onobots know absolutly nothing about it.

so the only logical conclusion is to hire the greatest strategist they know, or the person who must have inherited all his wisdom, and help them understand how this battlefield works by having an Onobot hook up.

Expect publishers paying for your service semi-regularly to translate stuff both into the languages used in the Republic or ones used in their target market. Scholars would also pay for your service and invite those who work for you to seminars and other activities.

So, it sounds like this would probably be a smaller scale operation overall, but Babel should still be interested in establishing relations with /who/. Do you guys have a rentry outlining this policy for reference?

Wasn't it stated that that's what the b/rat monks speak as well? Otherwise we'd have to pick it up from scratch, hopefully shouldn't take too long for our language experts. Especially if there's already a partial translation into hooman.

Yeah, if that's true then Aussie English is already translated. I think Cassandra is good enough of an AI to translate basic words. And we can always scan books to improve the translation. Though we'll still need native speakers to teach us the language in the end.

Possibly but that's many due to the saplings having no real organized society and their main language being forest senses. So from the trade and cultural osmosis, the Hooman language became the common spoken language of the Saplings. The languages of the three Council nations in the North probably had a common ancestor or were closely related. Saplings probably used to speak a language close to what we use before it was replaced by both forest sense and the Hooman language. The Brrats... /nasa/ says they speak Aussie English but in my own headcanon they speak a language close to ours just with a very thick Aussie-like accent. Though to be fair ours isn't that far away from modern English either...

between the Council nations and to some extent the Western Holo continent, yes. For /who/ most of the Holo continent and the Indie continent would be too, so the work Babel does for any of our entities would be auxiliary. There is a demand for professional translations. However those jobs are niche. Ancient and lost languages would be at the forefront. Also jobs in cracking criminal codes and underground languages would also be a market. However these nich jobs to translate these languages will not be cheap as they need full time scholars to research them. Chuubanite magic is also a language in itself I would imagine. So there's pleanty of jobs for professional translators. The more niche the job the more expensive the contract.

This could lead to an excellent story of a translator looking for lost scripts to decode ancient languages. They would also be dealing with encounters in the criminal underground as well as religious cults that kill anyone attempting to read their scriptures. Could probably make an anime off of language hunting alone.

Well if our language is shared with /rrat/ then we can simply ask the /rrat/ monks on how to translate our scripts into other languages. The words spoken are English. Our scripts will still use the English alphabet and words but the font will be alien. /rrat/s should have their own script but written in chaos. Also I think /rrat/s would have their own chaos language.
