Some interesting moments in time:
- Kizuna dominance until Nijisanji comes up in Feb 18
- early Rin Shizuka dominance among the Nijis
- Nijisanji was not the only vtuber company to rise: in 2018 there were a bunch others, such as 774inc (Haneru, Patra) or Game Club (Yumesaki)
- Nijisanji takes the top to become majorly dominant in early 2019
- but a retarded gamer maid keeps them on their toes, and is even nicknamed the Nijikiller by the niji fanbase. Also Choco and Fbk lower down.
- Honma/Shiina dominance for the 1st place, during almost the whole of 2019
- sep 19: sudden holos dive, idk the exact reason, to then get a great rise as they start gaining overseas fans (eops, sea, maybe a little chinese vpns on yt)
- after starting around july, Holo gen3 makes it big with PekoMarine, and they keep rising up and up
- jan 20: little after her debut, Coco is already on the far top, thanks to her AsaCoco, which she`d later give up on as it was too much work
- early 20: Otogibara on 1st place, but she drops the ball, even when compared to the other nijis
- 2020 apr to aug: while theres a covid pandemic in the real world, Peko vs Marine fight for 1st place, with Aqua and Korone right behind
- july 20: Meiro debuts for Niji right to the top, showing great potential, but later graduates
- aug 20: Holo gen5 comes up, and they all blow up for the first month, then stabilize on the following months, getting out of the top 20
- for the Nijis: Mito, Helesta and Kuzuha always manage to remain among the top of their company, ever since their first rise
- sep 20: HoloEN debuts n get straight to the top, then most of them recline a bit, except for Gura (she does recline, but she was just so massive by start that she keeps at 1st). Other ENs still fluctuate on the low parts of the top20.
- oct 20: Cocos Taiwan incident get her to rise a lot, momentarily
- late 2020/early 2021: HoloJPs and NijiJPs gain some ground back from the holoENs, due to the quarantines ending
- early 21: a few indies (Shigure) and vtubers from other companies (Shibuya Hal) manage to pop out in the top 20 as well.
- early 21: schizo arc Haachama gets her straight to top, then a break, and then back to top again in apr (and now another break)
- mid 21: lets see if Gura`s recline will stabilize soon now - the other ENs (not counting kiara) seem to have already settled their growths to something similar to the jps
- apr 21: vshojos seem to be on the incline, although Nyanners, their best ranked, is still low, on the 60th position, close to other chuubas such as Patra, Ollie, Chaika and Uto. Lets see if they can keep rising to the top ranks now...

anything else interesting that I missed there?

If Gura reclined by Sept 2020, why is she still first in Oct 2020.

Did the sudden influx of views/time somehow bleed into a different month?

I think a big thing that helped HoloEN was that their JP branch already had a surprisingly big worldwide presence before its debut, so the hype was already there.

You overestimate how many EOPs actually watch jps, especially now that they got a lot of options from HoloEN, VShojo, and soon NijiEN. NijiEN might do well, but it wouldnt translate to huge boosts to the jps - especially now that normalfags have less and less spare time to watch vtubers, when compared to the height of covid.

I don't know why people are so convinced that having NijiEN will flock EN to NijiJP. I myself don't watch HoloEN that much except for collabs because I prefer HoloJP. They are far more entertaining to me. If NijiJP needs a boost in audience then they need more dedicated clippers with great editing that has a flare for viral videos. That's pretty much it. They also need dedicated fans that would actually translate in the chat while live streaming. If anything, NijiEN would probably a new branch that people would exclusively watch since they can easily understand what the vtuber is saying now.

Subaru and Pekora's stream are the easiest to follow EOP wise since there's dedicated translators in chat and you get clips of highlights too. Okayu has the same too. They don't have to actually to speak English to be entertaining. They need translators and clippers that will constantly churn content from their streams. HoloEN was becoming a little bit uneventful. The most fun was the Jackbox collab they did. Holo is famous because certain explosive personalities like Pekora, the big events like bloom/holofes and because of the interactions that the vtubers make between each other. It's important that you keep up fun interacions. They have one every 2 weeks constantly. These 2 weeks was big too and there are some events coming up too. Almost all big collabs garner big boosts. HoloEN barely has any. It's like long distance friends trying to zoom every 2 months or something. Very depressing.

only the strongest idol could take a month off and still top the charts
wait people actually watch Aqua still? I hardly even hear her mentioned other than to call her an onion.

Also how did you get view time, a lot of autistic number crunching or is there some website that actually does this for you?

Chaika is an instant filter for most westerners because of his shit looks. But if you say Mito or Kuzuha, there might be a chance, yes. Just a reminder, going viral is about the vtuber original charisma just as much as any editting or clickbait a clipper could do.

on aqua, 4chan wont mention her much outside her own threads because chinks tried to use her as a martyr, although she never did nothing against her mates. But you can see shes still popular here whenever she collabs or when she enters stage on any concert

ChroNoir (KuzuhaxKanae) pulls in EN viewers, which is further boosted with them collabbing with utaite. You can find EN translations of their tweets or some parts of their streams on twitter and its usually when those two are together. Like CR Cup and stuff.

I'm just using an example. The point is if they have a sizeable following then that means going viral is possible especially clips are produced often and are high quality. Be it a meme clip or an actual high value full translation of a special event. And it's obviously going to be up to the vtuber to retain the audience by being consistent and accessible for the EOP audience. We know Mito has some virals but she never really gets consistent EOP because the support is inconsistent. Fumino Tamaki is pretty much the same. For every memorable moment that happened in holomember stream you best believe someone will clip that hours after. You might even get the same shit 4-5 times in your recommendations from different translator. This is called a community. Nijisanji might have that but it's not apparent or consistent. I only see Crossick get that kind of love.

ChroNoir have large weeb K-pop fan and female english speakers for some reason, they literally monopolize the EN female crowd

>for some reason
Two good looking male avatars, collab together and even have their own pairing name and channel, play with utaite who also have EN female fans. Its not surprising. Strongest guy and guy pairing in vtubers. My sister got to know Kuzuha due to them playing with Soraru. She's not into vtubers despite that but now she knows what they are.

Why are you always lumping JP and EN together into ONE hierarchical pyramid without any viewer data by country? Your globohomo statistic centered around English doesnt explain any accurate reality of popularity. You just calculate it without doing any real number ratio of the language users. In your way, English contents in all geners always have to be the most popular because its the largest language in the world.

I give aqua shit on here as the bug queen, etc, but she's ok. She's cowardly, but that's far from being a backstabber, not the worst thing in the world. Hopefully someday she'll get over her fear of being seen with coco.

are you fucking dumb. that image merely expresses one of the uses. you didnt seem to know the concept and just googled it

so then your statistic proves nothing. you are a complete idiot. as i said, in your way, english contents end up having to be always the top in every genres chart unless it fully consists of non-english contents.

>> No.2995793

Pyramid means there's more on the base than on the top, but sure keep telling yourself how smart you are.

Are you talking about vtubing alone because Latin America and Indians have the most crazy numbers as far as veiwing statistics for nonvtubers. English is just big for you because that's what you see in your algorithm but it's a mix of languages https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-subscribed_YouTube_channels

>> No.2996152

>>2995793
english is at the top. my analogy is the language pyramid, so it totally works for it. english is the most "privileged" one. you ignore the fact that english is the most privileged language in the world and has the largest number of speakers in total including ESLs

your stastic can be accurate only if you count only english speaking users, incl ESLs, and separate japanese vtubers from other english speaking ones. unless the requirements are fulfilled or japanese vtubers have fully real-time english translations like the localised jp videogames for the western market, you cant figure out any accurate data.

>> No.2996233

completely unrelated I guess, but can anyone give a rundown on why Hiromoot seems to have suddenly risen in popularity lately?

>> No.2996769

>>2996152
well, this is a list of the most popular vtubers, no matter what language they speak, nor their audience's lang. They can have jp only, en only, or mixed audiences.

>> No.2997588

>>2996769
then its just "the sum of the view counters on youtube". its accurate as the yt view counter statistic but far from "a proof" of anything. japanese vtubers are basically the same as non-translated japanese videogames that arent released for the western market. most english-speaking/esl users would ignore such contents because of the language barrier.

you lump the jp stuff for the jp market and the en stuff for the english/global market together but it cant explain any actual "worldwide popularity" other than the counter numbers on the site. both of the markets have totally different types of demands and consumers.

>> No.2997904

whatever makes you feel good about your oshi, anon. This is a list about the most popular vtubers according to public data.
Who is the best, on another hand, is entirely subjective to each person. Everyone has different values and preferences, and their favorites will be different from yours or mine.
