I've actually thought about this a bit in the last couple weeks as my watch list swelled. Some of the chuubas I was instantly into after watching for just a stream, some others I had to close after a couple minutes. What stood out to me was:
1. You don't have to have an amazing setup, model or voice or anything, as long as its not outright bad. A couple of the streams I quit watching because they had horrible audio or shitty fps (like 10fps).
2. Next (at least for indies) is chat interaction, I see how well they keep up and make it a fun experience for the viewers. This is mostly because most chuubas aren't like savants in the game they are playing for the gameplay itself to carry it. Again, I watched some chuubas were playing some uninteresting or FOTM game that took up so much of their attention that the chatters were just kind of talking into the void. Whats the point?
3. The chuubas I liked the best were doing zatsudan, art, or some game where they could pay attention to the audience a bunch. They were good at telling stories, reacting, and just keeping a good conversation going. The others I liked just had some interesting topic or skill they were showcasing and kept it entertaining at the same time.

That's reasonable. The ghostbin has that tl;dr look to it, but I still think it holds some value for the little descriptions they have and just being there on demand.
Linkposting is probably more effective, but requires someone actively doing it every day for every thread whenever someone potentially interesting goes live. It feels a bit draining to do desu, and I kinda wish other anons would pick up the slack since I often have to interrupt whatever stream I'm watching to go sift through tabs.

Responding to requests for recs is the best, though, and also the most fun. There's something very satisfying about people finding chuubas that meet their specified requests, like seeing a satisfied customer leave your shop. That's what I'd like the thread to be, ideally, but it's not really possible all the time.

Found a new western vtuber that I'm starting to get obsessed with. He's a skeleton that seems to only play crazy hard games and breeze through them like they're nothing. Probably one of the best gamers I've seen on twitch. He's also incredibly intelligent; I've seen him do calculus in his head and he's been breezing through the puzzles in La Mulana, and even invent formulas on the fly to model something in-game. He's also just absolutely hilarously funny and informative with tons of great stories about damn near everything. I genuinely don't get his motives. He gets off to small chuubas showing appreciation to viewers, so I'm guessing he was slighted by someone at some point. Possibly ignored by Nina once, maybe even banned. What confuses me more is his absolute lack of understanding for what constitutes as a clippable moment, leading to clips where absolutely nothing noteworthy is happening. Early on he attached small descriptions to the clips he made, but the actual contents of said clips didn't reflect those descriptions at all. There was this complete disconnect between what he linked and what he described as if the clip was only funny in the context of whatever story was going on in his head, but never actually happened.
