Also rep, regarding the chuubanite effect of /who/, I have some ideas but not sure which to implement.
Of course the core concept would be civilization but as a construct and being pretty malleable concept I had trouble deciding in how to implement it. So I think I've decided on what's closer to the original meaning of the word, thus "Civilization as a civilizing process", instead of a complex of culture, religion etc like how for example Huntington and Weber imagined it as.
So in effect one of /who/'s chuubanite effects is that it makes it easier for people that have a large enough concentration of it to become unknowingly susceptible to an idea or to unknowingly work towards a goal. However through chuubanite magic and catalognaut's abilities, this effect can become stronger. This relates to the thread in that sometimes the thread shares the same brain cells, and that the "civilizing process" sort of applies to the thread as a whole too as although it welcomes tourists and refugees one has to adopt some of the thread's behavior and rules (also ties into the sort of civic nationalism that would develop later in its history).
That's the passive ability. And for some active abilities, it's kinda a mess of different things that aren't really organized. So the chuubanite can also record sounds and videos, to represent sound posts in the thread. It won't be like film cameras since the method by which the information is recorded depends on the glyph and construction of the machine/mechanism playing or recording the chuubanite.
The chuuabnite is also more "stable", in that vitubium particles have a much lower rate of being naturally released and eliminated, thus having a longer shelf-life and a larger potential store of energy.
As for catalognauts, they are almost all winged people. Works kind of like my old proposal but they now have stronger bones and better stamina. Moreover, they are stronger in physical strength and possess a larger number of rod cells relative to normal humans. Basic abilities are chuubnite manipulation (basic abilities, heat, light, directional force), better perception of space and limited telepathy, two way between catalognauts and one way between non-catalognauts. Aside from that they also have better spatial perception and some ability so sense threats by telepathy when they are in places with a high concentration of ambient vitubium.
They are basically new types that can fly.
Chuubanite autists feel free to comment and give some feedback. And rep if you have other plans post them too.

I'm following you up until the second part, which is where you say things get less organized nanora. I think recordings and replayers are definitely possible but it's worded kind of oddly, are soundposts a big thing in /who/? A recorder could still probably work through concepts like the owl, echolocation, audio movement, things like that but it's good to map out how you can get to one concept to another.
Also while catalognauts can totally do all the things listed, I'm pretty sure every catalognaut can do those things with a rune glyph aid. You might want to consider how /who/'s catalognauts might diffreniate in terms of magic from other nations but flying is admittedly a big one, though /irys/ nephilim have wings without being catalognauts. I also think there was a hooman that suggested a catalognaut from /who/ could be amazing at coordinating groups of friendlies and causing general dissolution of groups for their enemies

>Civilizing progress
I get it now, our chuubanite will be the maxim gun!
Anyways.
To me this sounds a lot like the Radio idea, as in, being able to spread messages across the air to a mass of people, so yeah, kinda like newtypes. However, I think that trying to make it a passive "unknowing" effect could prove a bit too difficult to develop, and would certainly be rather recursive in how the communication of ideas is done. And a bit too close to mass mind control, which could be troublesome.
I think trying to represent soundposts is a bit too broad in its scale to try and come up with that alone, but if you ask me, it could be something like magic devices that are trying to pick up on soundwaves from other dimensions or whatever.

Communication of ideas is still done through normal, conventional means. And it's less so mind control, but rather influence. Pople experiencing the activated effects would not feel like they are not in control, but rather an epiphany, sort of like the overview effect but more intense.Again taking a page out of gundam here.
But I do agree having our chuubanite's main effect be something so passive and imperceptible could be troublesome. Though it depends on the direction we want to take I think. This would mean that rather than a magical effect the Republic's more so into magic tech, sort of like what I've been doing anyways.
>it could be something like magic devices that are trying to pick up on soundwaves from other dimensions or whatever
Maybe, but the chuubanite sound post thing would be relatively limited. Sounds are pretty easy to playback and record but images, films require expensive, specialized equipment to do so. And the recording process means that they would be hard to mass produce since they cannot be copied from each other, since each recording is unique.

>>37301115
Ah I'm more so thinking they don't need a rune glyph to do most things. So if they want to produce a flash of light they can just flap their wings, no need to use some sort of glyph. But more complex magic and effects, related to concepts would need it.
>a catalognaut from /who/ could be amazing at coordinating groups of friendlies and causing general dissolution of groups for their enemies
Yeah I remember it, have it in a note in fact.
>>/vt/thread/S31609951#p31632837
I haven't really developed the "negative" side of it yet though it could be interesting. And the "positive" effect is already pretty close to what I've imagined, the biggest problem is the visions, since that's kind of hard to implement and make sense of.
Also yeah sound posts are very common, just take a look at global and ctrl+f [sound, a lot of them are moomposts.

Being able to influence people, especially by unconscious means, is what I think is too close to mind control, but I digress, in that case, mass speaking machines like an early megaphone is what seems to be closest to your idea, maybe this megaphone could be a telepathic megaphone or whatever, I dunno.
Soundposts could also be a representation of plays and of poetry that could be passed around, it doesn't necessarily have to be magical, but if you do want it to be magic, I don't see why specific instructions of a particular soundpost could also not be passed around in paper, the printing press should be relatively common around the world anyways. It's one of the few things I could see being universal in the planet across all generals.
The newtypes could do it with smaller machines I guess, or just outright without them.

> I don't see why specific instructions of a particular soundpost could also not be passed around in paper
Ah the chuubanite "sound posts" have to be recorded. Meaning they are like cassette tapes that cannon be mass produced or copied. if you want to have multiple recordings of the same orchestra you have to have multiple crystals prepared.
>It's one of the few things I could see being universal in the planet across all generals.
That is a problem since other threads obviously also make soundposts. But I guess there could be multiple ways to represent that. Magic soundposts of /who/ is just one of them.
>The newtypes could do it with smaller machines I guess
That refers to playback of any visual information contained in the chuubanite sound posts, but yeah catalognauts can probably use them without any machine aid, recorded images or sound waves from another realm alike.

I wouldn't mind the East having a higher altitude. It's supposed to be pushed up by the holoplate after all. And since we would want it to have some steppes I think it can be pushed up a notch, the eastern plains should be around 1500-2000m in altitude. And I think the transition zone between the eatern and western parts can do with some more jagged terrain.
So if you take a slice in the middle of the country it kinda looks like picrel. (idk how to draw elevation maps)
Climate anons can the Western coast of the peninsula be more Mediterranean if there's a relatively tall mountain range in the middle? Or is it already there since it's drier?

A mountain range in the peninsula? I don't see why not.
We could have the steppe be on the northern frontier too.
From what I'm seeing, the bit of light green in the middle allows for a lot of hills there, if we make it more jagged, I'd say it'd be by adding in a few more noticeable hill ranges instead of sinking in territory, honestly I think it's fine already but it could be good.
What do you think should be our tallest peak?

Picrel is a topographical map of china with the Yangtze river as I remember it. Large rivers can dig out surprisingly large valleys, both in depth and width. If it is flowing all the way from rrat mountain, I think this river would create a pretty significant valley. Some of those gorges along the sides of the Yangtze have an elevation change of thousands of meters.

Monsoon refers to the change of prevailing wind due to the existence of large landmasses, but it is usually only significant on the eastern and equatorward coasts of large continents, so while some degree of it exists in the west (like in /uuu/ and /who/), its effect is not as remarkable as in the east where it dominated the local rainfall pattern.

>>37312795
Unfortunately, no. Currently most of /who/ has an oceanic climate, which means it is wet all year round due to the Westerlies constantly bringing moisture from the warmer sea to the west. While the high pressure zones from the cold current west of Hoshiyomia and the interior of holo continent might cause additional rainfall during autumn/winter of weather fronts between the two (helped by /rrat/'s highland preventing much of the moisture from going further east), the summer is probably not dry enough for it to be truly considered a Mediterranean climate. At least, you won't get the scenic Californian summer sun at any rate. Having a mountain range in the middle of the peninsula won't help that either (and how said range would come along is also questionable given the council plate is established to be a continental plate instead of an oceanic one), as a range tall enough to form rain shadow would block rainfall to the east year-round instead of just summer. Ultimately, the issue is that Mediterranean climate requires both a dry summer and wet winter, and that combination is relatively rare. Still, one can argue that the dry summer is more important in terms of impact on society, and meltwater from /rrat/ highland should allow for decent irrigation water supply even if you go forward with the coastal range plan.

>The Chuubanite is also more "stable", in that vitubium particles have a much lower rate of being naturally released and eliminated, thus having a longer shelf-life and a larger potential store of energy.
This can work, but as the activation of a chuubanite glyph essentially uses the same mechanic as the natural release and elimination, it would imply that the same glyph that would release, say a 100 units of magic quanta on activation using regular chuubanite, would likely release only, (as an example) ~75 units when used on /who/ chuubanite. To get that 100 magic quanta released, you would need a bigger, possibly more complex glyph than usually.
Essentially, /who/ chuubanite would then be a sort of "slow burn" type. Lasts long, and has a high capacity, but lower maximum output than normal chuubanite.

In general, it can be thought that unstable chuubanite is more energetic than stable chuubanite. This is not only born from how the quantum interpretation works, but is also a balancing act.
You could get around this by perhaps playing with the idea of how /who/ chuubanite can be refined. Perhaps the base form is stable, and has lower maximum output, but it could be refined into more purified, energetic, and far more unstable types? I have thought of nasfaqg chuubanite working a bit like that, with 3 levels of refinement, first taking a solid form, second being a liquid, and the last, most unstable and energetic type, being a gas.

RELEASE THE REINDEERS! EMBRACE SNOW!

No, but seriously, I think the changes should be explored first, and so give the subtropic nations a chance to see how their "correct" climate would have been, before a decision is made on this. The Miocene fix was just a proposal, I think it would have to be voted on first before we go with it.

From me, its a selfish wish but I would find the loss of the potential larger cold biomes in our world quite sad. I don't think having a cold biome is a death sentence to any nation. Rich coming from a rep of a nice subtropical nation yeah, but I do really think that. The potential of colder biomes I feel is really overlooked.

Basically, the limb being cut sends a signal to the glands to create the chemical signal that request the requests the creation of stem cells. There is nothing that really prevents a larger creature from doing it, but on smaller creature, there can be tumor-like errors in the regrowing process. I can imagine that with larger creatures with more cells, there could be more opportunity for such mistakes to happen. And the re-growth would be way more expensive in terms of resources.

I was under the impression that we are keeping the current climate arrangement and justifying it with different planetary perimeters but apparently every time it is brought up I got a different answer when it comes to the map.
As for /moon/'s climate, it would have two general climate zones, with the east being wetter and the west being drier. Under the current climate arrangement, the east would be considered tropical savanna climate, while the west would be considered hot desert. Basically you can expect the east coast to be a mixture of seasonal tropical forest, woodland, and grassland. The further west you go, the fewer trees you get, and eventually the grass starts giving way to shrubs, until you reach the west coast where it is mostly desert, likely with a fair amount of coastal fog.
Geologically, the analysis classifies it as geologic shield, although personally I think it might be Ophiolitic in nature. In Layman's term, the top soil for most of /moon/ is likely some kind of laterite, desert soil, and maybe sand in the west. They are low in fertility and laterite is mostly useful for construction and potentially extracting iron from it.
Beneath the soil is the bedrock, which may or may not have a mixture of silicate, carbonate, and flint from the ancient seabed (it may or may not have been fully eroded away). Under that would be a layer of basalt, which is also iron-rich and is where the laterite got its iron from. That is about as deep as you can probably dig given the current tech level, but sometimes you might get some rocks protruding from beneath for various reasons, in which case you might get some other igneous and metamorphic rocks like gabbro and granite. As for mineral resources, iron is the most obvious one, although you can still have some degree of gold, silver, copper, zinc, and lead, perhaps more common in the west since it is not as eroded.

Well, they play a pretty huge role since your society will have to eat something, and said something will most likely come from the soil and nurtured by the climate. In /moon/'s case, its land is not the most productive in terms of agriculture, but the open grassland across the country should be home to many animals that can provide food and other animal products. Some crops did manage to survive in climates like that, though, especially once things like fertiliser and irrigation comes into play. Depending on your ecozone, you might be able to grow things like maize, sorghum, cassava, and maybe yam as staple crops. Date palms might also be able to grow in the west.

Moonafic, this comes from one of our greatest minds, the legendary meatbro. See if you like this concept.

But when the split happened, the section with the population broke off

Speaking of penial dismemberment, Artic, what do you think the general punishments the Candy Kingdom would do towards their own knights or foreign criminals nora?
If the Hime Vessel orders something done than I'm pretty sure the guilty can only hope that Hime called for a time and date and that they can convince her to call it off before then but in terms of general things like catching a bandit, a luknight's disobedience, and conspiring against other lords, how would we go about punishment? I can see indenture servitude or imprisonment for most crimes however I doubt that we'd employ torture regularly if at all or execute individuals. I assume those that seek to harm the Hime Vessel are subject to immediate execution or indefinite imprisonment nanora.

OG, your incestual pursuits aside, have you ever actually written about what risuner sex is like? As in the general way it happens nanora? Risuners have lots of sex but how does that equate to having lots of GOOD sex? Them having sex as a currency asks the question of how long most risuners last in intercourse, especially since a nut exchange can't really last very long since you need to get about your day afterwards. Is nut exchange sex different from leisure sex? You've been horribly lacking in representing how risuners bump uglies despite your coom brain OG.

Naive? Probably yes. But she would tell you everything. Our gems take a very long time to produce and it would take 50 years to ensure we have enough to use regularly. She has no idea of how sapling magic works or how powerful it is. She has only heard of walking trees that can fight as well as this magical aura that keeps people out or they turn into plants. To have a similar effect in /risu/ would be her ideal dream. She would be sure to take either one or a few of each one, prioritizing the ones she believes would be useful to you. Emeralds would be the one you would like presumeably.

Giving you gemtrees would be a reluctance, but she would do it if there were no other option. But lets talk about saplings. Your people need to kill to eat food. Either that or pick fruit from trees, bushes, etc. And you need to make your homes out of something right? I thought about how you do not like the idea of chopping down trees but you do need firewood correct? This and a few other details about what sapling truly value. I know some saplings are plants when they evolve into trees and shit too and sadly, risuners simply cannot do that. Sounds about right for a battle/raider/merchant fleet, I do think that some of the older ships might be cut off so more resources could be invested in the newer ships, and that some of the numbers might be reduced because of that.

10 years per IRL month? Hmm, this seems sensible, but also a fair bit faster than what we naturally settled on purely based on speed of plot, I think. If we say we're currently around 1140 VTE, that would put us at around 1/10th of a year per day. While that's what we ended up with, it does feel a bit too slow. Well it's to compress the time so things that happened in the board can be reflected in the world while following a relatively consistent timeline. Like say the wave of kronii related schizos wouldn't have to happen more than 200 years into the future, same as /meat/'s exile, which would be closer to what founder wrote. But there is a reason why there's an adjusted date and converted date. You don't have to follow the converted time for every event but it helps to translate things that happen on this board to the world.

Rifles are a thing. Even if they aren't common in armies they are popular as hunting tools. However telescopic scope making only really became a thing in around mid 19th century, when production methods and quality of glasses improved, together with improvements in the ballistics performance of small arms (which can utilise the magnifying power of the scopes). There were documented cases of experimental small rifled cannons having scopes in the late 18th century, but they went nowhere, partly due to them being too "advanced" but also that they do not fulfill any roles that are deemed missing. Most people just rely on simple iron sights. Though sporting or hunting guns often have more elaborate sights.

Hi I'm back. I didn't realize how long it had been since I last posted. Anyway I've created a rentry that will include the final drafts of my /ggg/ lore. So far I've done architecture and it mainly focusses on how coral is used to build
https://rentry.org/6hvn3h
I also added a bit to the old outline rentry
https://rentry.org/n27ck
I still want to add more on appearance of shrimps, culture, and religion eventually. I also want to try and write these faster. Hopefully I can manage to do one a week. Let me know if theres anything I should change or add to either of the rentrys

Good stuff, chumbud, glad to have you back. One thing That caught my eye was
>Sharks are revered and considered holy creatures
How would this work with shark attacks? Would the victim(if it survives) have any special recognition or status granted to it(idk "Ooo the holy shark spared you, you must be special" kinda deal or something), or would they be punished if they tried to defend themselves when they were attacked. Would they even be attacked? Do you have any special connection to the sharks?

I was thinking about how cows are sacred in India and just changed it to sharks. But if someone were attacked by a shark, the shark could be fought off just not killed. I think because Shrimps are roughly people sized most sharks wouldn't bother with fighting one. That also opens up a whole possibility with Gawr (evil red Gura) being connected to shark attacks, kind of like Satan being connected to evil

I see, yea if they are that large, most sharks probably wouldn't bother. Also good thinking with the red Gura connection. Always liked that bit of Gura's lore, looking forward to what you do with it.

Oh, nice to see you again! It's good to finally get all those elements in an archived document, this'll be a useful reference. I wonder what theologists think about there being the concepts of both the Last Chumbud and the Last Deadbeat in the religions, something to do with the shared pantheon. Also looking forward to red Gura lore!
