The thing is his opinion isn't what we would call a hot take. The same applies to what he said overwatch. It's all shit that everyone has said before. Both are good and both somehow managed to shit the bed and it managed to frustrate the hell out of the people who are big fans of both.
If you want a real based hot take, he would have to say something along the lines of Asuna is the true mary sue self insert and single handedly ruined SAO and that the series would have been better off if it committed to its science fiction premise.

Everything up until the final few chapters was kino. Spoilers Basically Eren ends up revealing that he is a full on unicorn-tier simp for his step sister Mikasa, retconing all his motives up until that point. All the themes that the series had introduced and built upon like the threat of extinction, nationalism, fighting for whats right vs fighting for survival, etc... all down the drain because it turns out the main character's real motivator this whole time was wanting to have sex with his sister. I'm not joking. Eren goes back in time and kills his own mom too... for some reason. His spiritual ancestor was an unironic literal cuck too, kinda like Eren ended up becoming for his sister. Dogshit ending made worse knowing it could've gone down in history as one of the most kino stories ever if the author had the balls to avoid choosing the most cringe-ass "happy" accommodating endings ever.

The problem with Asuna is that she turned sword art into a romance like three episodes into the series and hijacked the protagonist role. She even did the same fucking thing in Progressive.
The problem with Kirito is that he was not allowed to be more of a protagonist. He was turned into an accessory for Asuna and the guy who is supposed to be hated by anime fans who are afraid of male characters. Kirito was more of a protagonist in Alicization until he got mako poisoning.
It's all the same in the mainstream romance and rom com anime that is put out today. It's all about the female character dragging the male character with her whims, but we will hate the male character.
Now THAT is the true hot take. Unicorn riddled anime fans will never admit that.
