To add to this, Ina took the slot where 80% of NA's with work or school had free time. Gura's 8PM slot is objectively better, but Ina's 6PM was good for watching while eating dinner.
Her so-called "comfy" streams, which were lower energy drawing or gaming streams, like a Let's Play, played into this. It wasn't the kind of stream most JPs would do with no high energy screaming and a calm game or something /v/ermin would like except when she spammed Elden Ring for months on end, but it picked up casuals well.
For some reason, most of Hololive English avoided streaming at good times for anyone living outside of SEA or California to Seattle. At the peak, Mori and Kiara were (and to a large extent still are) doing something niche at odd hours for NA, you have to go out of your way to keep up with them or even know about them. Ame streamed FPS games and Minecraft at degen hours while Gura took primetime with everything else.
Fauna edged out council in 2022 after picking up Ina's slot for basically the same reason. She's softspoken, not too niche (and ASMR brings other people in anyway), and streams when people can watch.

Gura was the cute meme brat, Ame was the rage gremlin, Mori was the cool rapper girl and Kiara was the extroverted idol girl. That let Ina take the quiet girl role. She complimented this with her pun jokes.

As a streamer, she was a comfy place where you knew what you were getting and she was consistent as fuck.

Some people could call her bland and they're not exactly wrong, but people went into it knowing she was best as background noise.

I know some people like to shit on her, but she is still the 4th most popular in EN and had the 2nd highest CCVs behind Gura. We'll see how things have changed when she gets back in a week and if she truly is revitalized of if she phones it in for a while before graduating. At this point, I honestly don't know how it will go.

Her advent calendar thing, she did seem a bit happier than she had for a while and a bit more lively than she had before her break, but again, we'll see. I fear that once she's back into it full time again, that she'll essentially crash again because she didn't make any lifestyle changes, but because of the time she has that isn't being used to stream, it seemed like she had more time for self care. That time will instantly vanish once she comes back to streaming.

I like Ina, I have been a tako since her debut and I have always tried to watch her streams, but it really rubbed me the wrong way when she decided to ghost her fans for two months. It's perfectly OK if she wanted to take a break and disconnect from hololive for a time, but using the health and phone excuses is just disrespectful, specially because her RM was pretty active during the break. I wish her the best, but I don't feel like I want to keep supporting her for the time being.
