I think a lot of people have a job and/or school and do this on the side. It can take up a lot of spare time or even just energy. It's X hours that you don't have to yourself whatever and can't stop to take a break for more than a minute or two to piss. You have to constantly be talking, witty, and on brand. That, combined with the stress of numbers (success based hobby btw) and lack of interaction can take a toll on someone who isn't able to handle the pressure, especially if they feel they're letting other people down. Lot of chuubas are fucked in the head. I've been friends with people (non-chuubas) that have hundreds of views, work hard, and still get imposter syndrome from time to time.

I'm a fan of Ollie's, but so far the talk show has been pretty mediocre. Hopefully they find a really good format down the line, but so the questions are lore-based or knowledge I already knew about. Watching Kizuna AI and Hinata was what got me interested in vtubers. It was Hololive that inspired me to become one. I even auditioned. Then i saw more and more indies pop up and then i understood i dont need a company at all. I stream because its fun. No one owes me anything and i dont expect cash. Got into vtubers in general when a buddy started showin me HL and Niji clips. Before that I just assumed they were all bandwagoning after Kizuna Ai.
Started putting together a super budget setup for streaming. Learned L2D and model separation only to scrap it and pay someone else to do it better. Didn't know how to break into the scene so I just started streamin, no plan or anythin. Got REALLY serious once the Niji EN apps came out and kicked my ass into high gear. My app was cringe, but it got the ball rolling. Just gotta keep improving.
End goal is to be able to make SOME kinda livin off this since I'm too retarded to deal with "normal" jobs.
Did all that while workin a job, goin back to school, gettin fired, and prepping for the birth of my first child.

I've got a lot to learn about correctly filling dead air, and I don't know how to network, so that's a challenge I have to overcome, but I don't know how some people can make this out to be such a hard thing to do.
