I was in Japan recently and went to Akihabara (of course) to buy some weeb stuff. I went to Animate to see if there was some Hololive stuff and I completely forgot that Nijisanji was having their 5th anniversary. Good god were there a lot of people.

I got there before it opened and saw a people lining up outside with a staff member giving them something. When it opened, a bunch of people immediately went up to the "Character Goods" floor where the Niji stuff was. The Niji section was gated off and it turns out those things the staff members were giving out were tickets to get into the section. Each ticket allowed you to get in during a certain 20-30 minute time slot, and then, the section was closed off again. The line for each time slot was so long and there were a bunch of people waiting at the side for their turn. I went back a few times to check it out and I think I saw the same people waiting there for hours. I managed to get a glimpse of the goods and you have the usual acrylic stands, clear files, posters, but there were also shoe laces which made me think "do anime/manga/vtuber goods go too far?".

This may be an unpopular opinion around here among both anti-homos and homobeggers but I think we have more evidence that the collabs hurt the boys more than they hurt the girls. Based off of 'vibes' (I have no way to prove or disprove this) I think the main viewers of the collabs, rather than twitter tourists, are fans of the girls, specifically Mori and Kronii who want to see their oshis yell loudly and act chaotic (I don't think we can generalize this to all coed collab combos, for example I'm not sure if Fauna's fanbase would like it as much). The girls then get to use the boys as accessories to create clippable moments. The problem is more on the boy's side; the people watching these collabs don't care about the boys at all except when they are these wacky side characters to the girls. Since most of their paypigs are stars fans who want to see cute boys there is this disconnect between what gets them the biggest numbers and what makes them money. In Vesper's case we see his zatsu floor getting lower and lower while sisters have been complaining about his behavior. Magni doesn't seem to have been affected as much but he collabs a ton with other Tempus members.
