I think Kanata won't have THAT much trouble adapting to it, but the difficulty spikes for me personally felt much more brutal than in DaS. Correct, but not that important on the standard difficulty, since missing the perfect deflect timing doesn't really punish you.
The regular timing is already like half a second long, she'll have no problem with deflecting. What she'll actually need to learn in contrast to her DaS playstyle is to be more aggressive. If you just sit back and deflect, the enemy will recover their posture. You need to go in to keep the buildup and hit their bodies to lower HP and reduce posture recovery speed. She's a tad too passive in Dark Souls, you can't just react in Sekiro, you have to force the opponent to give you the attack you want by attacking them.

It's true, but it's still a better strategy than just blocking since you land a few parries by sheer luck and if you miss it just counts as a normal block. You could totally brute force the game like that... probably. But like the other anon said, even if you're a god at parrying, you'll have a hard time if you keep waiting for big windows to attack. Koyori played it like that and she suffered a lot for it.

I was hoping she'd do the soulslike series at least by release order so she can ease up on the difficulty ladder. Unless she awakens her gamer sense Sekiro might break her instead. I'm pretty sure she'd not opt for easy copouts like the L1 spam, she sees cheap tactics as beneath her.

L1 spam is nowhere near as much of an advantage as Black Knight weapons in DS1. And while she did ask chat if it wasn't cheating because of how powerful it was, chat correctly told her it wasn't, because building your character is part of the RPG experience, and she easily accepted that as an aswer.
If you're not bending the game's rules, it's fine.

Yeah, the series gets faster and expects you to be more aggressive from entry to entry, most of all new entries try to trip older players over new tricks. The jump from DaS to Sekiro is fairly massive in this regard. I'm really curious to see how Kanata is gonna handle it. Going back to slower entries later like DS2 or DeS after this would feel really weird.

Same, I didn't care much about powerpro but still enjoyed watching it, I don't know a single thing about baseball so I wasn't really that invested in the first place. Same with Yakuza, I don't care about the game but I want Kanataso to play it.
