i think one of the most important pieces of advice given here recently is that a lot of chuubas from both threads should really try to find a niche with a community that isn't just vtubers

the indie vtuber networking web is full of lies and deceit that will certainly get you more friends but now the only people watching you are the same people that watch everyone else, and few that watch you for you yourself

Perhaps a second namechange is in order? From /aud/ to /asp/ to /stream/? Inviting discussion regarding streaming but including more than only beginners.

>>4461487
I wouldn't underestimate the help a community like /wvt/ or /asp/ can provide. Rather than starting off as solitary there's a few people you can freely share your stream with. If you happen to hit it off you can make quick, early networking reps or even friends.
What you do from there, laziness and slacking or working on yourself and inclining, is ultimately your own responsibility.

honestly, i think the better advice is not to make /vt/ your core intended audience. there's a lot more people out there and /wvt/ is a circlejerk. take some advice from here and leave asap. go find viewers who aren't from 4chan.

So far I have mentioned I've looked at this specific thread a few times and no one is like ??? but I'm not really sure I'd want a full 4chan association. I followed some advice from awhile back and followed some vtubers on twitter my weight class and just watched and interacted with them and now we're in a nice group that boosts each other. >isnt the whole point of v-tubing is the disconnect for viewer from reality?
And that holds true as long as the viewers (like yourself) don't actively go out their way to watch dox videos.

It's literally impossible to be 100% anonymous on the internet, especially if your goal is to make it as a content creator. There's gonna be parts of your life that you must put out there in order to make it. Transitioning to a vtuber doesn't magically make all of that disappear. Once something is on the internet, it's there forever.

You might be an indie musician who wants to try their hand at making albums. What do you do? You put yourself out there. Youtube videos, Soundclouds, Spotify, live performances at small local venues where people have smartphones and take videos. There's literally no way to make it without putting yourself out there.

Say that person turns to vtubing, where the culture and kayfabe is that they're a virtual character livestreaming. That's all it is, it's kayfabe. As the viewer, you buy into it, suspend your disbelief, and just go with the show to have a good time. Or you can be a dick and go out of your way to look up dox vids. You don't see people pointing out to movies and tv shows going "That guy actually isn't dead. He's actually just an actor and I saw a pic of him eating lunch that a paparazzi took last week!"

You can also do subtype variety. Like retro variety, RPG variety, etc. Not unusual for a streamer to develop a 'type' and play games in that type. Though often they have a main game too if there's one major game in whatever that grouping is. Generally if you stick to a theme people can understand you as a streamer faster. People that like that same sort of thing will stick around just for the games you play, which is an extra boost on top of sticking around just for you. >I mean, no one actually jumps into this thinking they're going to become instantly rich and famous do they?
Honestly having been in /aud/ and /asp/ for a bit, there do seem to be some people that think "cute vtuber model" is a gateway to instant career. People need to realize that vtubing is just a subset of normal streaming. You gotta put in work, no matter what. Unless you hit it big at random, but even then they tend to have already put in time.

I struggled with the exact same thing. If you're not completely discouraged my advice is to create a journal of topics and if there's down time in your commentary pull a question and interview yourself as you stream without reading the question.

An example would be "did you watch any good movies recently?" "Oh you know what I watched... Recently it was really good! It was..."

1 - you can have multiple paypal accounts registered to the same Legal Name + Social Security Number / Phone Number

Yeah, looking at stuff like this I've kinda realized there really isn't that big of a difference between being a vtuber and being a regular streamer, at least in most cases. Getting a model wont automatically bring in viewers. Honestly, considering that the novelty of being a cartoon has long since worn off, just streaming normally might be better on your wallet for similar results, especially if you're one of those "Pre-Debut" kids who takes pictures of themselves IRL.

Thankfully, I had a person that gave me an extremely good deal on rigging and I drew the model myself, so becoming a semi-cute looking vtuber was pretty cheap for me.

I'm a vtuber for fun now. While I'm definitely still using my vtuber exploits to try and shill my other projects, and I'm definitely trying to still market myself, I'm not expecting that anything will come of this, and I think that's probably the healthiest way to look at it. The market is far beyond saturated so investing hundreds of dollars into this expecting to get something out of it aside from some silly moments with 3-4 viewers is just going to make you frustrated.

HH's gimmick was his model, pic related. but it ended up hurting him because i would fill up the screen with a useless, non-reactive model. the actual face would be hidden and off screen most of the time, so you just have a moving mech that conveys zero expression. add on top of that the fact that he was incredibly boring and weak as an entertainer, people stopped watching him.
