Is there a specific day or time that should be avoided if we want to prevent potential overlap with big-name Vtubers on Twitch? If, say, one of the Vshojo girls always streams on a specific day and time, wouldn't it be best to try and not stream at the same time to increase your chances of having eyes on your stream?

You can do the research yourself, assuming they put up their schedules, but the best time to technically do them is an hour or so after their scheduled times, or at least whenever you assume them to be going offline. Hauntuber is interesting because they're going to bring in a cast of characters, but the actual streaming portion is difficult to sit through. It's literally impossible to be 100% anonymous on the internet, especially if your goal is to make it as a content creator. There's gonna be parts of your life that you must put out there in order to make it. Transitioning to a vtuber doesn't magically make all of that disappear. Once something is on the internet, it's there forever.

You might be an indie musician who wants to try their hand at making albums. What do you do? You put yourself out there. As the viewer, you buy into it, suspend your disbelief, and just go with the show to have a good time. Or you can be a dick and go out of your way to look up dox vids. You don't see people pointing out to movies and tv shows going "That guy actually isn't dead. He's actually just an actor and I saw a pic of him eating lunch that a paparazzi took last week!"

Is it a problem to have too many types of games as a streamer? I really love action/adventure, jrpgs, platformers, card games, and puzzles so I wanted to try and stream 3 days a week and rotate hwat kinds of games I play based on the day of the week. But it occurs to me that maybe people wouldn't want to see that much diversity? Thoughts on this?

You can also do subtype variety. Like retro variety, RPG variety, etc. Not unusual for a streamer to develop a 'type' and play games in that type. Though often they have a main game too if there's one major game in whatever that grouping is. Generally if you stick to a theme people can understand you as a streamer faster. People that like that same sort of thing will stick around just for the games you play, which is an extra boost on top of sticking around just for you. I'm mostly planning on playing diablo style games and metroidvanias, though I'll play other stuff from time to time (usually older stuff).

Not huge into cardgames myself but I've played a smidge of Shadowverse and all I remember is constant power creep and never getting the cards I wanted out of packs. Was kinda fun though. Just asked my friend who plays a lot of yugioh and likes the same sort of stuff and as far as he knows shadowverse is pretty dead over here. He also said you could try playing Chaotic for a laugh. I wanna get into MtG sometime (played it back when it was still new) but IIRC there's no good electronic version of it and I sure ain't getting into the paper version.

Honestly having been in /aud/ and /asp/ for a bit, there do seem to be some people that think "cute vtuber model" is a gateway to instant career. I struggled with the exact same thing. If you're not completely discouraged my advice is to create a journal of topics and if there's down time in your commentary pull a question and interview yourself as you stream without reading the question.

Yeah, looking at stuff like this I've kinda realized there really isn't that big of a difference between being a vtuber and being a regular streamer, at least in most cases. Getting a model wont automatically bring in viewers. Honestly, considering that the novelty of being a cartoon has long since worn off, just streaming normally might be better on your wallet for similar results, especially if you're one of those "Pre-Debut" kids who takes pictures of themselves IRL.

Thankfully, I had a person that gave me an extremely good deal on rigging and I drew the model myself, so becoming a semi-cute looking vtuber was pretty cheap for me.

I'm a vtuber for fun now. While I'm definitely still using my vtuber exploits to try and shill my other projects, and I'm definitely trying to still market myself, I'm not expecting that anything will come of this, and I think that's probably the healthiest way to look at it. The market is far beyond saturated so investing hundreds of dollars into this expecting to get something out of it aside from some silly moments with 3-4 viewers is just going to make you frustrated.
