It actually isn't, insofar as the problem for most other vtubers is to capitalize on a lucky short term algo boost and translate it into an actual long term audience increase.
I've seen it happen enough times in the last year or so when the youtube shorts meta was new and every smallcorpo vtuber tried their play at it, and some lucky few got their shorts (mostly either coomer shorts and/or songcover shorts) into the five-figure or even six-figure "viral" category, but for some reasons or others they weren't able to capitalize on the momentum and translate it into an actual lasting audience increase. Sure, they added maybe a few tenthousand subs to their channel subcount, but those were mostly deadsubs, as their actual ccv is still hardstuck in the low-3view zone and they never managed to sustainably break beyond that.

Rin seems to actually have broken that pattern (so far, ofc there's still a chance it fades again). So, good for her, I guess. I don't really watch her much, but from what little I've seen she seems to have managed to do so without "low tier" content like coomer pandering etc.

Most of the time shorts don't provide value or what the content is about. Linus media group and some more in the mud number crunchers have it right with using their actual content and making it sort of a clickbait to watch the rest. Very intentional growth shorts. Filian kind of has this down with them being stream clips but spams them so if they do try to redirect they're lost in an ocean of shorts.

Rin takes a different approach it seems(idk if the audio and her movement is pulled from an actual stream) to do sort of informative/hot topics in the community mixed with her personality. "Ok she talks about this topic pretty informatively and entertainingly lets see if it transitions".

The skits/tiktok/vine style like so many try are essentially pre-recorded content they tell you nothing since most of the time these people don't have standard vod content to watch similar to the shorts and just stream. Leaving the shorts doing nothing.

It's like comparing family guy funnies to American dad funnies. Family guy is a bunch of skits and scenarios that are funny or novel on their own but when you watch the show it's nothing like what you expect and in fact kinda boring.
