On the great scheme of things how big is Hololive?
I know it doesn't stand a chance against movies and sports but I feel it's already getting bigger than most Gachas and low end TV shows and animes.

You know what they say
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
I liked Hololive when it was a small niche, but EN and Coco ruined everything.

I'd have agreed with you in 2020, not since 2021. Coco left the company in disgrace after being humiliated by management, and the fanbase pretended to not notice. As long as there isn't a huge drama like a talent being raped by management (Mel's case wasn't rape and it's not well known among casuals), there is no reason for Hololive to fail even if some talents leave

Whether you like Kson's content is irrelevant to my point: a talent can leave Hololive in bad circumstances and the fanbase will pretend nothing is wrong. We had a termination case with Rushia and almost no Hololive fan sides with her today

Well we had Mafumafu and Rushia two very similar situations One listened to there Manager one did something stupid. Those separate from Rushia could literally see that covers plan of do nothing would have worked because it worked for mafumafu. You can see even now it would have worked because some of them followed her next life.

The public perception was that she quit over the harassment, though. If she (even vaguely) shat on Cover around her graduation stream that had 500k people watching Hololive would have taken a lot of damage.

Manager took advantage of his access with her to try and schmooze. When it failed spectacularly he became a schizo anti stalker and eventually accidently identified himself. Mel reported it and Cover fired him immediately but he continued to stalk her and Cover shrugged its shoulders 'hey we did our due diligence, now that he is outside the company he is YOUR problem'. Eventually Mel went on hiatus, lawyered up and made it Cover's problem once again to resolve and got the schizo faggot to leave her alone finally.

And said bot spam was part of Cover's responsibility for their retarded handling of the situation. Saying they supported the One China policy in the Chinese statement but not in the EN and JP versions, and giving in the antis by suspending Coco and Haachama in the first place just made them feel more powerful. Leaving Coco on her own to deal with the bot spam is the same as telling her to graduate, to tell nothing about them modding chink spammers

They're a Japanese company who has pushed into the public stock market and list their goals as expanding profits by merch / events instead of quality stream content. That wasn't because of English fans, it's almost exclusively a Japanese idol focus desire.

How big is Hololive? Well they're literally the biggest Vtubing company, period. Niji is almost 10M behind them and all the rest are 1/10th as big or lower. So they ARE essentially, 50% of the industry.

Now how big is Vtubing as a whole? Debatable, but I'd still say it's extremely niche. That said, Pekora was the most watched female streamer for Q1 and roughly half of the top 10 most watched female streamers were all Cover talent, so I'd say it's growing in popularity. If I had to compare it to something, I'd say it's maybe as popular as a stream platform original series that's relatively middle of the pack in terms of viewers / fans.

>Pekora was the most watched female streamer for Q1 and roughly half of the top 10 most watched female streamers were all Cover talent, so I'd say it's growing in popularity.
Other way around, the ES streamer that got second place is inclining and will definitely dethroning pekora next year. Amouranth didn't stream this year else she would have beaten pekora as well.
