Well, that's because generally, Nijisanji vtubers form miniature cliques or go it solo, they're more like Hololive generations 1 and 2 in that aspect. However, every Gen since 3 has been really close knit, so when a strong foundation member like Coco bows out, it sucks a lot of the air out of the room, especially given the fact that she was the one that acted as the bridge between East and West for Hololive as a whole and was a core reason why it exploded in popularity. The only person that can really fill her shoes now is chimkin but she doesn't have that same animal magnetism Coco has.

Its not just American. I'm an Aussie and learned cursive before lower case printing (upper case letters first, then cursive because taught by grandmother born in the early 20s) and it shocked me that by the end of high school I had classmates who could print faster than they could handwrite, all because they only ever wrote in any script when they were forced to in school.
The thing I don't get with nips losing Kanji is that it is such a good system to read once you learn it, but I guess that phone and type text autocompleting to Kanji has led to a lack of repetition of stroke order, which has led to losing writing, which has led to difficulty retaining reading.

To the actual hololives, they will still be able to talk to and play with Coco, it'll just be offstream. They'll probably keep going to the Holohouse and all that. They might be crying because they're worried they won't be friends anymore, but as long as they put in the extra effort they will be fine.
