They hired a new actress for China just to do China videos, then they got like 3 others to voice as well so they could put out more videos. At some point it seemd like the original VA was out, since she started a youtube channel as a human, declaring herself the VA for Ai, she played some Animal Crossing and made some cat videos, then that channel stopped, the other 3 girls reincarnated as new characters elsewhere and Ai put out a video saying she was always the real Ai.

Basically, the original VA was always there, but the alters being around soured everyone on Ai, so maybe she was going to quit but they boot them so she didn't have to and now it's fine.
