Regarding her talking about sub growth, it's not even sub growth just for sub growth's sake that she wants, or some general boohoo numberfag sense, she has a concrete goal in mind, getting more 3D outfits, and the subgrowth is just an incidental means to that end. Now, of course, you can argue about whether that is the best motivation, or if subgrowth is the best/only way to get more 3D outfits or if there are other ways, or if more 3D outfits is even a worthwhile goal she should focus on or she could do other things more realistically reachable things instead. But oh well, that's at least what she has decided to care about for now.

I agree with the others that there's no one simple magic trick and all the armchair-managers posting their "just do THIS and THAT" lists are basically just pointless pontification. Sure, Kiara has her various well known debuff-issues, sure fixing some of those would probably help a bit. But no matter what you do, you'll never repeat the explosive lightning-in-a-bottle 2020 Myth debut growth period that was the exception and not the rule, and every further growth from here is just gonna be the hard slow and steady kind instead, if at all. Because most of the potential target audience for western vtubers is already "tapped out" in the sense that they already know about HoloEN and have already decided by know if they're watching or not. Case in point, there are other talents who follow the "recommended recipe" much closer, and while they may have better CCV, even for them their current subgrowth is just as anemic and plateaued, indicating that it's more of a general issue of new-viewer interest stagnating in HoloEN.

Though I do say that her current best bet idea of "oh I know what'll work, I wanna collab with fleshstreamers! That'll expose me to new audiences, who'll surely like and subscribe to me!!!" is one of the worse possible ways to go about it. Without even getting into the general issue that most fleshstreamers are odious cancer and you're better off not getting involved with them, most of the normie audience outside of the vtuber/weeb-sphere would probably just think "ugh what's that anime bullshit? Criiiiiiiinge!!!!" and it'll probably net you more haters than new fans. See also, Mori and Tiktok, etc.

About 3D and maybe 2D outfits, I heard that Marine basically commissioned some of her own outfits, but idk if that's true. Kinda weird in the case of not being able to use commissioned models besides for special things like frogiwawa. If they can't commission things themselves that makes getting sub milestones the only way to have full control in making a new outfit.

2020 Myth sub growth was certainly a one time thing. I think Kronii is the most subbed Council and she only has 800K, I don't think it even took a year for everyone in Myth to get a million. I understand why she thinks doing fleshtuber collabs would be the best thing cause it's assuming it's an untapped market, but I don't think there would be any good collab partners to do that, and any decent fleshtubers would already know of Hololive at least. Slow grind, and probably playing more FOTM games would be better.

Well, aside from the obvious confirmed/observed information (1m+ wish is a thing, new 2D outfits tend to come around bi-anually or so; and 3D debuts, recent covid-disruptions nonwithstanding, usually get doled out in gen-wide batches, etc.), we don't really know too much about the behind the scenes nitty gritty. Kiara is one of the most open Holos but even she has a limit about what she can / is allowed to say, so the rest is speculation.

Can Holo's commission their own outfits, "out of turn"? Probably not, I guess, or else we would see the richer ones just splashing cash privately for a new outfit every month, which doesn't happen, so there seems to be some system in place. But we also know Holos can at least make requests and suggestions for things they want in their new outfits, when they are allotted to get them, so there's that at least. But in general there seems to be some kind of internal schedule that regulates who gets what when, plus incentive mechanisms like subgoal wishes. It can be frustrating to know you're being held up by some artificial external timetable for your stuff, but it's probably better than the alternative, total anarchy and everyone doing whatever they want, fighting over scarce resources.

Frogiwawa and all of ENs smol 3D seem to be some kind of special exception Cover gave them to do their own private model stuff (you'll notice the JP Holos don't), probably in consolation for not being able to give them proper official 3D for so long due to covid etc.

Seems an underappreciated meta by Holos, mostly because they are already big enough that they don't need it anymore (but thinking about it, some of the viral meme clips that made Holo(JP) first so popular in the west a few years ago were kinda like shorts too), but we've seen some smaller vtubers getting a boost from them.

Of course simply playing FOTM games and stuff like that isn't gonna magically bump her sub growth massively, but if it could broaden her reach which would be the goal. Spamming long RPG and JRPG games is perfectly fine, but if she is trying to grow she would have to do something the general normal fag might see and consider clicking on, and unfortunately most of the games she plays aren't like that. Also if anything she should work on trying to be the "first" to play a new game. Obviously there are other things out of her control like holo duties, but she is usually always a couple of days or even a week behind in playing a new game, and any new viewer that might show up to see someone play the game has already done that with someone else. Shorts/meme videos would be the next best thing, at the very least to find a 30 sec to 1 min clip during a funny part of her stream once or twice a week, and one could randomly go viral.

To be fair, most of the games that are FOTM are not in her wawacore taste strikezone. For example, she cares little about whatever is the current AAA hype slop at the time and would rather willingly play some low-engagement anime jrpg instead. So she'd be mostly forcing herself to the FOTM and most playthroughs would be an uninterested chore of a playthrough that'd make her look more of a phony than it attracts new viewers to actually stick around. Sure, hey there have been instances where Kiara has been unexpectedly into a generally popular game that's outside her usual fare, GTAV and Portal etc have been some of her most kino playthroughs, but those are rare and neither of them translated into an actually significant sub boost either.

And on the rare occasions that new tourists do appear just because she happens to play a FOTM game they like, most of them will also get filtered out as soon as she does another one of her usual wawa-isms, like dropping the game for minutes because she's just not that into it and would rather want to tangent about what her cat did today or whatever (see Elden Ring etc.). The problem I have with that is that for a vtuber, it's the ethot/GFE way or nothing. It really doesn't make sense for a vtuber to just sit down and cut fake hair next to the mic without saying a word, you can get that anywhere, from professional ASMR content creators in much higher quality, and not just from a livestreamers doing it as a side content.
