Catholic is a type of Christian. All believe that Jesus is the son of God and the Bible is the word of God (multiple books in one written over thousands of years and translated into every language on this world).

Now how they take things into context, prayer, worship, rituals, traditions, sins, and what part of God (Father, Son, Holy spirit) they focus on the most all differs from the denomination/church. They sometimes do collabs together. Francis and Bartholomew are also on good terms. It's gonna be 1000 years soon and the relations between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Schism are getting better, especially since Bartholomew is such a chill guy, so maybe we're gonna see the Church reunited during our lifetimes. There would be no problem, e.g., marrying a schismatic and proclaiming the marriage during a regular Latin mass and she could even confess before it to a regular Latin Church priest, it would be properly "recognized" by her particular church, even if it's a different rite. As long, of course, as it is in full communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Hell, I could go to a schismatic country and go to a mass there and it would "count" if there were no churches affiliated with my rite.
I really hope we're gonna see a united church in this century. As an Eastern Orthodox, the way we see it is essentially that the higher figures in the Roman Catholic leadership turned from the way of christ and the disciples to buddy up with the roman government. While we have issues with the way the church organized itself in 400AD and 1400AD, by modern day the upper levels of the catholic church is no longer linked to governments and leaders and it has returned to its spiritual roots.
