History is repeating itself. This happens with every empire. Eventually, the ideological or material colonies of the empire are more attractive and have better culture than the homeland, because the homeland has been rotted out by corruption. That's basically what's going on with the US--no one likes the domestic output, and those foreign countries with culturally compatible output are essentially a form of hybrid culture between their own original culture and the US/West 50-60 years ago.
