It sounds bad but reflecting now I really think being happy is a choice, but not one you just make declaratively and it happens. Eating right or at least supplementing holes in diet correctly. Sleeping consistently. Exercising consistently. All choices and are the building blocks for baseline happiness.

Getting away from a rigid view of myself (ego death) also helped a lot because then you can see the toxic ideas you hold in your head and just throw them away instead of holding onto them because they are part of “myself”.
