I like randon, but I don't think he's right at all. When you go the debut route, you hold on so much better to viewers as a girl if you're just a bit entertaining and cute because the vtuber audience just prefers girls. He's right about the higher end, but it can't be one and not the other.

A good example is those vtuber clip accounts. They've been boosting smaller vtubers to the moon, yet the clips of males, even the ones that have tens of thousands of views or more haven't helped them at all.

I don't think the vtuber audience prefers girls
there's just 2 types of vtuber fans
>1 - gachikoi who want to have a cute anime idol girl say their name
>2 - people who want to watch an entertaining streamer
women can appeal to both groups, men can only appeal to number 2
women can use this to get faster starting growth but once the growth starts and you break out into twitch partner territory, it evens out if not favors guys slightly more
there's just a shitload of 0 viewer guys who get frustrated they do every thing right and get shunned because either they're trying to interact with women who are going the idol route and DO NOT want to talk to men publicly
or they see a woman go the idol route to get the quick growth then swap it up once she has a name for herself and think that's unfair and whine on the internet

between those two types, a majority are definitely in the 1st category regardless. Papifubar, a name Randon mentions, is a great example. I personally think he's got some of the best entertainment value out there, but grows so insanely slow compared to a girl some clipper threw on youtube saying something cute or lewd . admittedly those clipper accounts also appeal to the 1st audience more.

it's definitely a good point, expecially since there's a lot of guys who were doing vtubing before even ironmouse and have quality content but all it took was her singing a spanish song and shaking her avatar around and she just blew up to the moon
for the ones who don't blow up it's about equal but there is the point that there is really no "gosling" market for guys
that market hasn't really been cultivated

which is strange to me since the JP male vtubers have girls going crazy over them. Pomu literally writes a love note to Kanae every time they go into the Nijisanji minecraft server and swoons when belmont talks to her

Just posted this in /wvt, but it was the push from Silver, Melody, and Zen back in 2019 that got her there. And that's true, the only male with a gosling audience is probably Kittymcpancakes, luckily he survived the cancelling her got with about the same average.

Fujo money is crazy good but when it's comes to fujo bucks interactions and shipping > personality of the single vtuber. Look at dreamteam and kpop groups.
Also fujos doesn't care about meme and dilf malechuubas thats why holostars is flopping, nijisanji doing better cause they have more younger males. One day somebody get smart enough to make maletuber project with only young looking idols like utapri, enstars or imas and force their talents acts like biggest faggots alive between each other then malechuubas dominate the medium. But this wouldn't work on west cause males there either absolutely repulsed towards being gay to bros even as act or they're actual annoying faggots.

2d or 3d really is just "your" preference. No one watching will really care, whatever you think looks good is all that really matters, if you're happy with what you picked, it will show and your viewers will be happy too.

A lot of chuubas coming from /asp/ have been doing things that branch out from gaming while still also doing gaming content
Nelson has been doing radio dramas, Teru Teru has been doing book readings, Callie has been doing art streams, Naoki has been doing more analytical movie watchalongs, Tomakeys has her math streams, Elliott has his Tarot and Japanese streams, Bodega with her art streams where she invites other vtubers to draw with her

Honestly, that's exactly what I thought. The form and their site looked too good to be true (providing hardware and software, letting you design your character, helping you to produce songs, etc) so I dug as much as I could to look for something that would set alarms, but I couldn't find anything. They seem to be pretty transparent and nice, and the talents too.

I honestly don't care that much about numbers, I prefer cozy streams as you said. But still, starting alone is hard, especially if you consider how expensive things like getting a good rig are right now. I always find joy in drawing NSFW art or at least a pin-up art even though I am not a coomer, my personality is completely different from art; similar to Pochimaru.

The problem is that whenever I try drawing something "completely pure" eg a Chibi, it feels and looks souless to me which creates a problem.

I am afraid that if people would watch me drawing ecchi art, they would assume that my model is lewd and that I am nothing but a lewd bait.
(I created a simple model with a cute design compared to my artwork, after all I am trying vtubing out)

The problem is in growing from 0. This feels really disingenuous, but I'm gaining followers most days now on Twitter, and talking with them too. Also, having written this out, I feel like a psychopath for having scripts on getting people to pay attention and like you.

But it works.

- Set your name to include vTuber / pngTuber / debut [soon]tm
- Follow a few medium-size vTubers (under 1K on twitter), and like their posts. This gets the algorithm to start linking you and vtubing
- Tweet CONSTANTLY. At least once a day, preferably more. Make memes about your streams, or tweet the highlights from your most recent stream.
-TAG YOUR TWEETS. The vTuber Retweeter will pick up some of your stuff. Some users browse the tags to find chuubas to groom. Tag the game you play, generate your own tag. If you're doing an extended run-through (100% completion or something) give that challenge it's own tag, or just steal one.

This shows that you're active. People might find you, but what you're doing is making it look like you're a reasonable person with normal interests. They won't see an empty profile that's just got likes on softcore anime porn.

- HIDE YOUR FUCKING POWERLEVEL

Keep it relevant. Not "I went and had a haircut today", but "trying to figure out bouncing text like old screensavers in OBS. Anyone know anything?"

This is laying groundwork for the first important part:

- When you see a 'drop your PNG' thread, do it. Leave whatever comment they say to
=> Go through the other replies. Look for people with ~50-200 followers. Actively respond to them. "I love your [coat], that's a really nice design!"

- Look for people saying something like "I'm so nervous to debut", either in response, or in the tags
=> "So was I, but you can do it! Look how much effort you've put in so far to [your shitty MSPaint pfp]"

Zigzag out. So if you see someone respond, don't always reply in /that/ thread. Go to their page, and reply to a different tweet. Twitter groups notifications, so you want to stand out by being part of a smaller crowd.

- Look for people with an obvious high effort design, and that they say they've done themselves
=> Compliment them on it. "Wait, you created the design, did the art, and did your rigging all by yourself? I had to commission each of them! That's amazing!"

Here's the next important part:
- Check them on Twitch, see if you like their stuff.
- So long as you don't dislike them, follow them on both Twitch and Twitter. Chat in their streams, and react on their posts.
- Keep it informal, and don't praise them like your boss - approach like you're a colleague (you are). But people like to be praised, so something like "How did you manage to do [art/transition] effect? I've been trying to figure it out". This needs to be (semi) genuine, not just bullshitting.
- Don't break kayfabe more than they do. Let them set the pace.
- Continue to interact with their posts and chat.

If they're very small, then by the bounds of politeness, they have to respond to nice comments, so long as you're not praising them on EVERY tweet.

Either respond to everything ASAP, or set yourself time to go through and respond to all comments at once. Force yourself to do it, don't let the conversation just die. But don't keep it going if there's not much life in it.

Exactly. And at the beginning, you are NOT going to get any attention from a big chuuba. You might get some from medium, but your best bet is to work with other small streamers, and see if you can get an overlap.

However, this needs to be reciprocal. If you're not promoting them at all, then they can and SHOULD drop you (same goes for you - if you think one person you're interacting with isn't getting you anything, even just likes on Twitter, taper off the effort)

As a final point, on top of OpSec for account hygiene; practice account tidyness.

You need to have:
- Profile Pic
- About me filled
- twitch/YT/Carrd link
- header banner

On your Twitch/YT
- Profile Pic
- Recent VOD, or Highlight, or Intro vid
- About me filled
- Link to Twitter, Youtube VODs, whatever else
- background pic
- page panels filled
- Schedule sorted

This is at MINIMUM if you're new. If you come in fully formed, or you already have fans, you can skip this. But you want to have everything sorted so you look like you know what you're doing - think of the 1-view hoodie streamers who haven't got anything set up. You want to be as far from them as you can.

Any tips for someone rebranding, not just debuting? I've been streaming just for fun for almost a year, have a small audience and decent social network, lots of friends I've made through vtubing, etc but for the last 6 months or so I've mainly just been going Live whenever and coasting with 20-ish viewers since I'm busy with irl. Life's slowed down and I'm finally getting more serious about this (as a hobby, still), but I'm not sure how you even redebut outside of upgrading assets which I've got all lined up, just waiting on new model.

I know I can do the shilling between friends/networks to get a decent sized viewing if I market it as a redebut event but I'm so set in my ways of just coasting that I don't really get what direction I should go with that. I'm trying to get into that "new streamer" mindset, but it's honestly just hard to put myself in those shoes.

The earlier convo about non video game content is honestly one of the things I've stressed over, because I don't really know what I could do that people would want to watch. Deckbuilding/deck theory for TCGs is technically still a "gaming" stream, I think.

On a more technical side of things, is using a laptop feasible if I'm planning to just start as a pngtuber? If you want a mic then get either an Elgato Wave 3 or a USB AT2020; those are decent high-end USB mics if you can afford them
If you want to you can eventually upgrade to XLR later on though
For webcams generally any webcam that’s decently priced is decent enough at tracking; if you have a recent enough iPhone you can use that as a webcam too, and a lot of phones allow you to use them as webcams by connecting them to the PC through an app (not specifically VTube Studio cameras)
As for programs, there are a couple that are currently popular (VTube Studio, PrprLive, 3Tene and Animaze) but generally VTube Studio is considered to be the gold standard. You have to buy a DLC to remove the watermark but you can download it and test it for free.

You can literally be the most entertaining streamer and have less than 10 people watching, making 2 dollars a month after 6 months of 8+hours per day.

Or you can be boring as fuck and have 10,000 people watching per night.

Vtubing has nothing to do with it, same odds with face cam, no cam, and with vtuber avatar.

Quick word of advice that apparently isn't common by this point, make it ridiculously obnoxiously easy for people to find your twitch channel from any other profile you have on the internet and vice versa. If you have a twitter for your vtube character, always pin a tweet to your profile with a bunch of links to your twitch, your youtube, or any other social media you use. If you have a youtube and twitch channel, always include links back to your twitter or to the other platform.

I cannot tell you how many times I see a smaller channel posting clips of themselves on twitter, but when I click their profile they have no link to their twitch. I usually have to google it or if I find a link to their youtube, THEN I find a link hidden on their channel that takes me to their twitch. Everytime I do this I always think "there's no way some normie is gonna take this much effort just to find your channel."

You gotta make it easy as fuck to access your channel.

>> No.6066150

>>6066057
You've got better odds if your content is good, but people still need to find it and "good" is subjective to a degree. Just using vtubers as an example, most people want to watch a cute girl be cute. There's different types of cute, but a lot of the popular vtubers in the hundreds are basically just cute, funny girl and that's what they consider good.

Now, with things like TCGs or RTS or GS games are popular with some audiences, you'd have a much harder time finding people who wanna watch a vtuber do it and you've got a much harder time reaching that audience, so even if your production value is good, nothing short of a miracle will get you anywhere near the top because your target audience is so much smaller.

You can sway the odds in your favor, but end the end it's RNG. "Every youtube video is a lottery ticket", as Ludwig put it.

her getting 1k comments in a couple hours was a pretty funny blackpill. Can't imagine anyone with less than 100 consistent viewers getting showcased by her.

She almost exclusively showcases small or lesser known people, that's the whole point. She showed Zuthar/Chaos but he's one of the biggest people she's shared besides just friends or clips she's been in on other streams.

Thank you very much anons! I'll probably make the face closer to a standard anime face like this, enough to be expressive but obviously not as messy as my doodles lol.

I'm still not sure if I want to become a vtuber or just use the design for animations though. Especially with how grating my voice is and how I can't make conversation well.

Here's something I put at the end of my niji app. I recorded this at least 10 times over because I kept messing it up. https://voca.ro/14ZRiq9BEapM

your narration is really cute! it sort of reminds me of like, when the intro to a game is narrated by one of your party members telling a story about the world

You could maybe get a better mic and do something about that background hum, but otherwise you have a good voice. Honestly makes me super insecure about doing my niji audition.

These are all very helpful information. It gives me some hope. I'm in no rush but I believe if I put out enough consistency I will get results. It worked for other things in my life, why not VTubing. Even if it's RNG I just have to keep taking chances.

I trust /asp/ so I might come back here with more questions after researching some more. I'm looking at small VTubers right now, checking their growth and see what they're doing so I can set a starting goal for myself.

I appreciate it anon! I think that will definitely be a helpful point of reference for when I try to use other inflections and tones.

I do just have the token usb yeti that I fell for without not enough research years ago. I'll look into getting a better set up, thanks anon! I wouldn't get too insecure over it anon. I'm sure your audition will be splendid! Best of luck to you.

It's good to hear your opinion on it because I've never really heard objective comments on it before. Thank you!

I'm not worried at all since I have plenty of experience in that type of content creation (I'm the anon with a youtube channel mentioned earlier) but my voice just isn't made for singing, acting, or anything. I've pretty much accepted that it won't go anywhere.
