Not OP, but to add on to what you said, it's also extremely hard for a JP to start a general without it already existing before when fewer EN generals existed. Shion has tried having generals tons of times, even merged with an Aqua one, but they've never survived. Shion probably needs to be merged with another existing general to survive. As for soundclips like you said, most people on /vt/ don't watch Shion and just jerk off to her art. So this is an uphill battle.

I've had a lot of experience running generals and even starting my own in the past. If it is not a HoloEN, it requires babysitting, some more than others. Even the most popular JPs like Pekora, Miko, Suisei, Fubuki, etc have really slow generals that are haning on by a thread. Marine's died a few months ago. Holo Gen 5 needed to merge again because their individual ones kept dying. Re;Gloss can't sustain a general.

Anyway, you need at least 2 or 3 people willing to be the OP. I, unfortunately, do not have the time to run generals anymore. Further, it could take weeks or even months before there is a stable audience. But if the general keeps dying without proper support, it won't happen.
That's my experience running generals anyway.

this nickname actually really bugs me since it barely even makes sense, it's only invented because english fans don't even comprehend shion as her own person and just as an attachment to aqua = onion, and she's flat out said she doesn't understand it or like it

I can't really blame them too hard since her english is among the worst in hololive, she makes essentially no effort to pander to foreign viewers in any way, and her choice of stream content (well, when she's even bothering to stream at all, which is an entirely different issue) is not EOP friendly at all. You get chatting, singing (that is actually 75% chatting), and random long gaming sessions usually of games that aren't too exciting on their own so if you can't understand her they're definitely not worth the 5+ hours.

Listening to something like the Shion wake up voice in English is incredibly funny. Mostly because it shows that Shion’s level of English is below sea level all the way to the abyss. Not as a disrespect at her but more so that the difference between her and someone like Ayame for example is like night and day. She's ultimately more or less just a normal girl with relatively normal hobbies who likes puns, dumb jokes and just talking about random stuff.

The stable comfiness of basically all of her solo streams. At least in part, all of them are zatsudans, and those are her specialty. When you can hear her happily talking about some stupid stuff for hours, you go back to feeling like everything is still quite alright in the world.

it's kind of a variety of things but I think one of the big ones is that she makes talking about pretty much anything funny. Her choice of wording and phrasing, the way she gets into weird tangents and distracts herself from her actual topic constantly, just the general kind of ideas she tends to come up with to talk about to fill dead air, it's all just very amusing to me. You really never know what's coming next and topics transform into other topics in the strangest of ways.

I encourage anyone who's curious about shion but doesn't know japanese to try and find some translated clips that are just her chatting about random things with viewers. Not a gaming clip, not a collab clip, not fauning over gura or I dunno whatever other things get clipped all the time. Just something with shion in her natural environment, that is, random idle solo chatter since that's what most of her streams are. I can maybe try and find some favourite moments if anyone actually wants any and can't find for themselves

She's got some big thing that she can't talk about coming up, the biggest stuff is finished (she had to wake up at 4am for it) but dance/singing lessons are still ongoing.

She's never played fighting games before, so she wanted to practice some in advance so she wasn't totally lost and confused on stream. She tried Juri at first (because cute) but playing her was too complex so she gave up. Despite practicing though she was still afraid of chat saying mean stuff, like the way you're afraid of your teacher when you're going to class but didn't do any of your homework. There's some move she said she saw a guy in a video saying was good so I guess she's done some researching too.

No real stories from the gameplay itself since she was focusing way too much on playing to tell stories. She was better than I was expecting, and while she needs a lot more experience to really understand all her moves and the system mechanics and so on she's definitely improving and was pretty good at learning mid-battle even. She was mostly playing ranked and often when she'd lose a match she'd rematch and win the second time around. She was definitely scared of what chat might say at first but she was pretty into it by the end, said she wants to play again, was asking korone for tips and felt really happy when korone said she'd try to learn shion's character (cammy) so that she could give better advice.

Superchat reading mostly uneventful. People were occasionally mentioning trivia about characters or talking about who they play, basically just random gamechat here and there while reading. She called Guile "mushroom-hair" because it looks like an oyster mushroom, which I'd never really thought about but is kinda true. She also got tips on strats/combos from chat and noted them down, maybe she'll be using a bunch of new techniques next time.

I think my favourite tangent was a superchat from someone who attended a yugioh event and didn't do well, Shion said it was because they didn't have kuriboh in their deck. Chat was not so hot on the suggestion (the card sucks desu) and looked it up to try to understand why but after reading the card realized she didn't actually know anything about yugioh so reading it explained nothing. Chat then suggested she look up magikuriboh but she gave up when she saw how much text it had, claiming she was allergic to reading.
