She had a crippling fear of dentists for the longest time because a dentist botched a procedure so badly it gave her a traumatic oral fibroma (a growth) where her teeth meet the roof of her mouth. This gave her a speech impediment that caused her to make a lip noise she is super sensitive about when she says certain words, which is what gave her the fear of dentists, because she was worried any procedure had the chance of worsening her condition or giving her a new one. So, she was living off of a NEET diet of sugar while neglecting her oral health for a handful of years, which is a recipe for cavities. In Polka's case her condition is so severe she needs 5 whole appointments to treat all of her cavities. She only went to the dentist to learn this because one of the cavities reached the nerve and infected it, which put her though a terrible amount of pain and ended up requiring the inflamed nerve to be removed entirely. There's a lot of info to share about Polka, in large part due to the fact that nearly all of her member's streams and posts involve her completely spilling her soul to her supporters.

Polka came into Hololive already knowing YAGOO as a close friend and with enough experience in the entertainment industry that she was hired without a second thought. She's incredibly passionate about Vtubing as an industry even outside of her own content and is one of the Holos (if not the Holo) who watches the most streams of other members. She's a trendsetter in her own right, putting out her unique variety show Legend of Polka among many other unique streams or bits she's done. She also advocates for a world where Vtubers make most income by partnering with companies for collaborations or sponsorships rather than relying on their fans for most of their revenue, hence why you see 5th gen getting so many sponsorships despite being a new gen. (Botan is also a fan of this model) Polka is incredibly passionate about her own content and mention she nearly went broke paying for her first original song, and has often mentioned working herself to the bone to complete larger projects while streaming regularly.

But this devotion doesn't come from wanting to be rich or conventionally successful, but rather a deep seated need for love and attention from others. Offstream, Polka is awkward and shy, and alludes to being ignored or neglected by others in the past. She is intensely self critical and beats herself up over her slip ups. But rather than let that get to her, she works hard to turn every slip up into a joke and every flaw into a charm point, and that's where Polka's onstream persona comes in. Polka loves to be an entertainer because she herself gets quite a boost from following idols and other content creators, and it's a great ego boost for her to be able to do that for others. She describes her relationship with her fans as "co-dependent" and has previously called chatting with them "therapy" for her. When Polka has something that is stressing her out, she'll often turn to her audience for support, voicing her concerns in a member's post or a stream. She hopes to be able to do the same for them, her humor and enthusiasm giving them confidence to tackle the difficult things in their own lives. Holy crap reading this reads exactly like my Triangle oshi. Like they are 1 for 1 similar in so many areas it is kind of spooky adding to it the fact they were genmates. Honestly reading the leads me to suspect Polka might have massively influenced Delta's out look on fans. As Delta will very readily explains she used to see fans only as numbers and thought they were all full of shit when they said nice things to her. Which means she sees joining corporate and acquiring sponsorships as making it. Delta doesn't trust corporate at all. She sees all corporate as black in nature even if they might treat the chuubas well she sees management as cowards who stay quiet while the talents take all the hits. Keep in mind her own experience, she is a fan of Towa, Marine, Coco, and she follows Shion's roommate who has been struggling with antis for months. This shaped her own belief that the only thing you can rely on is yourself, your friends and your fans. Taking on and I shit you not an Outer Heaven approach where Chuubas must worry about themselves and their own careers above any company.

Excuse my schizo ramblings I just find this all facinating. I believe they will both make it their own way they are extremely talented and hard working girls.

considering polka's last life was with a pretty shitty vtuber company, there's merit to polka's trust in hololive. Hololive's middle management is an issue, but it's incompetence, not corruption. They're overly restrictive while being lazy. The japanese are worried about change, so when someone tries to do something new they gotta make sure it doesn't negatively affect the company as a whole, which stagnates content.
Cover is not flawless, but their hearts are in the right place.

No surprise Delta has an anti-corporate bias. They did her wrong, no doubt. Polka has a stronger opinion of management because this company is run by her friend and has been receptive to change, like getting Gen5's trash manager replaced with someone decent. As long as Cover is helping Polka serve her fans better. I have no doubt she'll be pro management, but she's also been on the wrong end of things enough to see the writing on the wall, so I see her as one of Hololive's best canaries in the coalmine, if you get what I mean.
