The qmin/max are probably redundant. I'm honestly retarded - most of my experience tweaking CLI encoders is with x264 and x265, because again, anime. I'm also usually not limited to 3 MB. VP8 sucks ass and hiroshimoot needs to give us VP9.
Input file format shouldn't ultimately matter - to a certain extent. Even then, with ffmpeg set up to constrain quality in that fashion, a botched input (too sharp, too noisy, too colorful - anything that would require a higher bitrate) wouldn't make the file larger, it would just make the output look shittier.
It was whatever DaVinci Resolve spits out in "H.264 Master" mode. Yes, I installed Resolve because I was too lazy to walk to the machine with Premiere on it. I did also de-block the input file, and anti-alias/blur the "intermediate" with the background using an AVISynth script before encoding it, and when I downscaled it, I used Spline16 to avoid making it overly sharp.
TL;DR I don't even know why it came out looking the way it did, you nigger.

The first pass doesn't encode any (visible) video at all, it's not "uncompressed" - it's taking "notes" on what to do afterwards. The "making the WEBM" part really shouldn't make a difference either. Having it done with mkvtoolnix on my end is just an extra/redundant step because of the front-end that allows AVISynth/vapoursynth scripting. Selecting MKV/WEBM output automatically switches the "final" output to mkvmerge, so it's just how the VP8 stream ends up in the container. If I used ffmpeg to encode it and put it right into a WEBM all in one step, it would look 100% identical with the only changes being invisible (metadata).
I finally see what you mean about the color - and not with my fucking eyes even though f.lux was on last night. WEBM on the left, "master" on the right, (You) on the bottom. Good fucking grace, even without f.lux how did you even SEE that? I kneel, but only to the FREAK cones in your fucking eyes, niggerchama.
Anyways, it's likely the encoder itself. With e.g. x265 you can make very specific tweaks, even on a frame-by-frame level for things like block size, color, bitrate for color information, etc. libvpx ain't got time for that shit. I was surprised it let me stuff -crf, -qmin/max, AND -b:v into one command while seemingly obeying all of them. The documentation lists some, but not all, commands separately for VP8 and VP9. I thought Frankensteining them together would just crash it, but it looked way better than a regular two-pass at the same bitrate.
Even the master output's background color is slightly off on my end, which is either chroma key garbage because Resolve blows, or even at 15 Mbps H.264, the encoder thought "HUMAN EYES CANNOT DISCERN THIS DIFFERENCE." even yours is slightly off - remember - $error: rgb(255, 108, 108); is what we were aiming for
TL;DR It's the encoder dithering the colors down to try and maintain quality. Extra bits to prevent macroblocking at that large a resolution and that miniscule a bitrate had to come from somewhere.

Threading can decrease compression efficiency, but I didn't know it did for VP8. It's more apparent in x265 where different parts of the encoder behave differently with multi-threading. I thought forcing 4 threads on my crusty POS was actually talking it down from the 8 hyper-threaded ones it'd probably default to. But that's really getting into doom9.org talk.

Again, when this was brought up as an exclusively scheduled transaction option (which by the way, that update is still being worked on) there were multiple concerns of people saying it would allow one to wipe out adjustments instantly, allow for market manipulation by the ultrarich, and other assorted issues. However, last thread there didn't seem to be much opposition to the idea so I thought it'd be prudent to bring it up again.

It could if you wanted to. There are of course limitations in that if we set fees and limits based on % of circulation as with the scheduled transaction system, then for trades at those limits, it is possible that trades that get processed between when you click the button and when your transaction gets processed changes that limit, thus causing not only predicted fees to be off but also potentially forcing us to reduce your transaction amount. This also exists for the scheduled transacs but that is a well understood risk, in this case the issue is that you guys would expect the transaction and fee displayed on your screen to be what you get but that might change depending on server load and your internet connection.

If multi-coin transactions become a thing, we should go back to the old system, where we hand trades to a broker and they're processed globally every cycle on a first-come-first-serve basis (with each individual share processing in a queue). In the current system you can just auto-delete any adjustment if you can move more than a dozen of that coin's shares.
The other option would be to set a hard limit on how many shares you can move in a single transaction, based on the volume of the coin.

I think people will have stronger opinions than me, but with the autotrader I don't really feel the strongest desire for this anymore. Obviously depends ohow it's implimented, but there's a lot of downsides for it and not a lot of upsides for how I play at least. Multi-coin transactation I feel would increase the pace of trading a lot and especially decrease the window of ideal trading prices. With the current speed of the server couldn't say I'm a fan of richfags buying 100 shares each of some coin at 9:05:01 and then I'm bogged as the site struggles to process my transaction at 9:05:02. The first issues that come to mind are reminding me a lot of what I hated about playing earlier in the game. People definitely probably have more well thought out and strong opinions, but I'm personally not crazy about it if I'm just giving my initial thoughts without much reflection.

If you are gonna add multicoin purchases, it would need fees or some countermeasures from people buying 5 coins separately and working around the fees, perhaps by putting them on a cooldown equivalent to the coins purchased, so 5 coins means 50 minutes of no transactions on that coin, it doesn't have to be specifically that but it should be something similar.
I think fees/cooldowns/tradeoffs are necessary for multicoin purchases regardless to make sure it isn't just better to lump sum purchase coins.
I'm fine with it but I think it has more realm for abuse that has to be watched for.

I think it's probably something you want to add eventually as more money is injected every week through dividends. Eventually volatility will be low enough that dips last the majority of the day. To start off you could try allowing doublecoining and seeing how the gameplay is affected. Yeah, personally fixed, but low amounts would be not only the easiest to implement but the one that'd probably get the least complaints about the system stealing coins. My concern with it is just that fast movement and limited window of opportunity. Honestly, maybe it just makes sense to bump it up to 2, see how it goes. If shit goes wrong we decrease it and if everything is still fine we can keep it and discuss bumping it up again, look back at it after a while and see if there needs to be another change.

If there were multicoin transactions almost everyone would use them on adjustments. The problem is that if big orders are allowed, and they properly impact and tank/pump the price, the first ones to submit orders will rug/dump or get a discount/slurp ahead of other players. And that's when players getting the website to load faster will actually impact them, right now you lose almost nothing even from being a cycle late.
The current way selling and buying works is actually what some real crypto shitcoins say they will implement not to fuck with (dump on) investors, an anti-whale mechanic (though of course they just say they implement it, they don't actually and bog anyway lmao).
This is why making it exclusive to scheduled transactions is good, at least for orders of high volume, because players who do it wouldn't get "frontrunned" on orders if the website fucks up. And it's also a gamble that way considering adjustments are crazy, which is fun.
