This game didn't help kill anything and it's just a symptom of what was happening with ArcSys at the time. The higher ups didn't want to "waste" development time in a new 2.5D Blazblue because they were too busy with their multiple licensed games like DBFZ, GBVS and DNF Duel and also working on Strive so this was the next best thing Mori could've done with the franchise.
