not a vtuber (or femanon) but used to be a streamer. for those in this thread still actively vtubing/streaming, how long do you think you'll keep going before you call it quits if you dont make it in the industry?

i streamed for 1 year during covid with 8 hr streams mon to friday. also 1 weekly upload to my yt channel (i edited my own videos so took a while, wouldve liked 2-3 vids a week). and i would shill my streams on twitter/reddit.

the only reason i could stream like this is because i live in australia and for the whole year of covid the govt pretty much gave out free money to everyone so i lived off that free welfare and used it to fuel my streaming career.

so after a whole year of streaming 40hrs a week mon-friday regular uploads and shilling and the literal govt funding my neet lifestyle i managed to amass a whopping average viewership of...... 10 viewers by the end of it.

considering the MASSIVE lockdown buffs and how hard i was trying. realising this was the best i could do i finally accepted i was never making it as a streamer and just got a regular 9-5 job.

so for those still in the streaming grind at what point would you consider it calling quits?

I resent a lot of the girls in Hololive, like Gura and Kronii. They were handed success on a silver platter and they're wasting their chance because they're lazy fucks or hate their audience. Bitch, if I was set for life from day one, you bet I would pander to my audience and learn to shut up. I was planning on focusing more in the anime/manga side since I don't see many doing that, also I was planning on using my art skills a lot and using animation.

You needed to make something that blew up and went viral on YouTube before you ever even considered going hard core on streaming. 12 years ago I worked on an abridged series with a bunch of people who went on to get really big. I am forever the man who fell off because unlike them, I did not capitalize on the audience I gained from that to build my personal brand so that I could move on. Instead my 50 viewer max cap streams on Livestream.com are forever in the memory hole of anyone who was there at the time.

It also helps if your content is actually entertaining or more than just what everyone else is doing.

Hello Femanons, I feel really bad hearing about your plight when I have had nothing but success so I have decided to save you all. No more seething, just success.
*You must be inherently entertaining, if you aren't: watch a chuuba you'd like to emulate (cute and funny - gura, weird schizo - mumei, cgdct - fuwamoco, etc. until you understand how often they speak, when and how to make jokes, what kind of affection your fans would prefer, etc. Forive the reddit formatting, this is going to be longish so I'd rather it not be a giant chunk of text. I don't believe in pandering to coomers so this will be very biased to my opinion of what an actual vtuber is.

Step 1 Branding Matters
- I am so sick of seeing vtubers with like fucking TV head models and the ugliest shit crying about being unsuccessful. First figure out what character fits your voice. I've included a voice chart and your ideal model age/size, however these expectations CAN be subverted in some cases. For example if you are a dark coloured edgy loli or a pure and sweet hag you can get away with a deeper/higher voice while still fitting your model. Tone matters a lot too, are you very quiet and practically whisper when you talk? Go for an angel or puppy character. Are you an annoying gremlin brat? Go for a crazier design like a squirrel, hummingbird, or demon. These are only examples, because in the end what really matters is a nice looking, but recognizable design. Look to large corpo VTubers for examples on whats good and indie 0 views for examples on whats bad. Large corpos have entire teams dedicated to just the character design, it is good for a reason. I don't advise looking at genshin or other gacha games, since their designs are typically overdone.
Once you have figured out what character you want to play, find or commission a model and assets. They don't have to be super amazing quality, but make sure your branding (model, logos, overlays) match and share a theme. This will help you out a ton in the long run because of brand recognizablity. There are lots of amazing free assets on booth and nizima that you can use to have a cheap, but high quality debut.

Step 2 Voice Training
Regardless of your voice, you should be doing vocal lessons. If you can't hire a teacher follow YouTube tutorials.

These tutorials all teach really amazing vocal techniques that can teach you how to control your voice. Think of it this way, you will have an easier time learning to master your voice since you should already be able to follow the tutorials in a feminine range no problem.

Step 3 Niche
Why do people want to watch you? Figure out your strengths and use them to your advantage while working on your weaknesses. Do you have a game you're really good at, or are you an amazing singer, can you play instruments, go on tangents talk a lot, or do ASMR? Decide what you are good at and want you want to do and then all in on whatever that is.

Step 4 Marketing
Decide on a unique name that no other VTuber has. Have you ever noticed how big corpos all have really weird names that are usually puns or directly relating to the characters lore? Stop choosing names that are already taken because they can hurt your SEO.
Make accounts on every platform and start posting pre-debut. Post shorts on TikTok and YT. Follow Twitter trends and use them to your advantage, most viewers do not come from Twitter, but if you are interested in applying to an agency it can be useful in boosting your overall statistics.
The point of these platforms is to connect with your community, so actually interact with your viewers/followers and don't only reply to drop your PNG tweets. People place a lot of importance on networking, but oftentimes your viewers don't want to see collabs with other 0views and they're usually drama magnets so you're just shooting yourself in the foot.
Do not pander to coomers, nor 4chan. They will drop you when they get bored/cum. Focus on finding a community that likes you for you and not your sex jokes, big boobs, or edgy pandering.
Follow a simple schedule for every social media platform, you decide what this is, but make it consistent.

Example Schedule:
>Twitter: 7x Per Week (Not including Good Morning + Good Night Tweets)
>YouTube: 3x Per Week
>Reddit: 7x Per week
>TikTok/YouTube Shorts: 5x per week
>4Chan: 0x Per Week
As a VTuber viewer, it can be really hard to sit through a long debut of someone I don't know so keep it 20-60m. And for heaven sake, stream every single day of your debut week. After debut you can set your schedule to be 3-5x a week or whatever works for you, but debut week is vital towards getting long term viewers.
