There are many high level pros who prefer a non monitor drawing tablet. There are actually quite a few advantages. You are not at the level where it matters, you will be redoing lines dozens of times regardless. But a good drawing tablet with a screen is a huge jump in price. An iPad with an apple pencil, which is a great platform that even pros use is hundreds of dollars.

Krita is not easy to learn, honestly, like any program with a lot of good features it takes a while to learn all the details. Ina actually did a pretty good Krita introduction stream where she did an illustration and reviewed the most important things to setup. I started on Krita for a year then switched to CSP, which is very similar and has an absolutely massive library of tutorials, brushes, and assets.

But if you can do basic layers, setup brushes, and work on drawing clean sketches and linework that's more than enough for the first 6-12 months if you are a true art newb. Can you draw a straight line? A circle? A cube? A human figure? If not don't worry about blend modes etc.

You have to calibrate your expectations. Doing daily sketches it's taken me about 1.5 years to go from complete novice to barely acceptable for fanart. My time line was 3-5 years to draw something decent, and I feel like that's been pretty accurate for me.

If you oshi is a Holomem literal professional artists with hundreds of thousands of followers draw fanart for them constantly, don't worry about comparing yourself. If you are drawing for a small indie pick a pose now and do a bunch of reps on it. Trace a few times then try to recreate it, get used to all the subtle contours of a real model and then a stylized version of it. If you put in the effort you can probably produce something that isn't terrible in a couple of months.
