If they moved to another label they would have to rebuild an entirely new image and persona, they're all under NDA so they couldn't announce the move to their fanbase, not to mention a chunk of their fanbase would see them as a traitor. Fundamentally the facts are that ad revenue on Youtube is nearly nothing. If you work for yourself then fine, but if you are in an agency then the ad money is eaten up. Superchats ended up taking over because it became a more realistic money stream (though Membership is even better).

In the old days fans buy shitty music cids by the thousands per person to support AKB style idols. These CDs end up in the trash. Superchat is a more direct and less wasteful way of showing your support, especially since you can show off in front of other likeminded fans.

And the only reason it took so long? Was because Japan is historically against donations. They feel like it is begging. So they rather sell you near worthless trinkets at a huge markup than to get your money directly. But the Vtuber industry is changing that now.

That gap has been steadily vanishing, and the only reason they still have a gap at all is they have more than double the number of talent and better game permissions thanks to Sony backing and Chink access compared to Hololive.
