I think this does prove a few things.
1) The difference between NijiJP's exposure vs NijiEN's still worlds apart, even moreso than HoloJP vs HoloEN. HoloEN and HoloID2's debuts did worse than HoloJP5's debuts, but this NijiJP batch is completely blowing NijiEN2 out of the water.

2) The JP live viewing audience is still far larger than the EN live audience even if EN generates more hype on social media. Irys was at like 300k subs and 200k followers and her debut peaked at 90k. This new Niji gen is hovering around 15k subs and 80k followers and they're getting 75k+ numbers. I want to see what the VOD views are like 2-3 days from now for this batch of Nijis since it was impressive that Irys's debut hit 1 mil VOD views after 3 days.

Will need to wait for the girl to see if Manjisanji is actually having any effect, since this NijiJP batch is vastly outperforming the last NijiJP debuts too.

The hololive audience has grown considerably since last year, even taking into account the viewcount changes. Gura broke the vtuber liveview record. Coco's graduation got 490k. Marine's concert got 139k. HoloEN2 will definitely beat Irys's numbers and HoloJP6 will all debut with at least 100k.

Holoen definitely has a different audience compare to jp. I am multilingual and from my experience browsing different holo communities in different language, their holo generals tend to focus on jp side than en side. Gura is the probably the only exception when she streams. Ame's creative streams recently are definitely gathering lots of discussions, good for her to innovate.

I want to say that gameplay prowess doesn't always translate into viewership. Hal is pred but many other preds that are better than him get much less viewers. But I realized that we never really had a Niji liver that is this good so maybe having the brand platform would help a lot. I primarily watch Holos but I watched Selen play Apex and as someone who doesn't like the game, it's more enjoyable to watch someone good at it than watching my favourite Holos suck at the game.

Noel got 75k and is more popular than Matsuri and had better guests. Numbers-wise, Aki and Mel are dead weights as guests. Fubuki will help, but Haachama will not be physically there or performing. Matsuri is undoubtedly a better singer than Noel, but Noel unironically gets more views on her karaokes than Matsuri's karaokes.

Here is the thing: the actual number (10k) is only a comparison with the number that, using the same process, was obtained before (8k, 7k). Using other methodologies wouldn't alter the observed trend.

Pic related contains the comparison between the average and the median.

As you can see, with the exception of the neutron star that Coco graduation happened to be (and a couple of other special occasions), the median and the mean average follow the same trend with a more or less fixed relation between both for the most part.
Using the mean is just simpler to eyeball without any different with regards to actually measuring the trend.
